You really can't get spring minor league boxes - you'd have to rely on first hand comments. I guess your best bet is to hope that Arizona Phil at The Cub Reporter goes to the minor league games rather than the big league team and reports back at TCR.

I'd agree with this. If AZ Phil is there, you might get lucky for one of the 2 games that are getting played. However, they did post the "schedule" of games at Fitch this year (hadn't seen that in the past, but maybe I just missed it). First game against other MiLB players is 3/14 (I took a picture with my phone so will double check). What that info didn't say is who was playing where. If I remember right, Lo-A and Hi-A play at home when AA and AAA are on the road, and vice-versa.

Tomorrow is indeed the start day. AAA and AA at Fitch, A+ and A on the road all against the Fathers tomorrow. Check the link for the other days if you want to see which squads are at Fitch: http://cubs.scout.com/2/730582.html

Suprised to see that AZ Phil hasn't been posting much on the minor league games yet. Would be nice to get some word on how some of the prospects are looking.

Marcus Giles went 1/2 with 2 walks while rehabbing against four different Cub minor leaguers in Peoria, AZ (Al Alburquerque, Mark Pawelek, Yuri Higgins and Marcus Hatley). I don't think anyone is surprised that Pawelek had one of those walks nor that he threw a wild pitch:

North County Times[/url]"]On Field 6 ---- as far as you can go and still be in the complex, but still under the watchful eye of the entire coaching staff ---- he went 1-for-2 with a pair of walks against four Chicago Cubs pitchers.

One of those Chicago pitchers was right-hander Marcus Hatley, a former Mission Hills High and Palomar College standout. Hatley caught Giles looking on a 1-2 slider.

"That was a thrill," said Hatley, 20, a 39th-round draft pick by the Cubs in 2006. "Obviously, it's the first time I've faced him. Hopefully, it won't be the last.

"Now I have a story to tell my family and friends."

...

Giles singled up the middle Friday to drive in a run against hard-throwing right-hander Al Alburquerque. Left-hander Mark Pawelek walked Giles on five pitches with the last pitch sailing over Giles' head to the backstop.

Right-hander Yuri Higgins walked Giles on five pitches.

Finally, Hatley got him out.

"That kid (Hatley) had good stuff," Giles said. "He had a good fastball, changeup and slider. He threw strikes.
