I have no idea who to draft in my keeper league. Anyone who is a free agent goes back into the pool, so that's pretty much who I'll be choosing from.

I got stuck with the 2nd pick in the draft. Of course, the first guy took ARod.

Right now I'm looking at Torii Hunter or Francisco Cordero. I have Ankiel, Hideki Matsui, and Rocco Baldelli in the OF right now, and my only RP is Manny Corpas.

Any ideas/advice?

I have a full rotation, with Pedro, Sheets, Billingsley, Maine, and Matsuzaka. I also kept Carlos Pena, Joey Votto, Jeff Kent, and Ramon Hernandez.

Torii Hunter cannot be the best player available in your draft.... no way.

You need to give more info than you have for anyone to be helpful. HOw many points do you get to keep? H2H or Roto? Are players points exempt for a number of years? What SS and 2B are available in the draft?

Yes, we ruled that ARod was a FA.

It's a points league, and you start every year with zero points. No point exemptions.

16 team league, with 24 players, you keep 13 guys every year. Anyone who is a FA during the offseason goes into the pool.

FA 2B:

Freddy Sanchez, Felipe Lopez, Jose Lopez, Luis Castillo, Mark Ellis, Ty Wigginton, Ray Durham, Mark DeRosa, Kaz Matsui, Maicier Izturis.

FA SS:

Khalil Greene, Felipe Lopez, Julio Lugo, Yuneisky Betancourt, Theriot, Jason Bartlett, Bobby Crosby.

Why would anyone choose not to keep ARod? There must have been some rule not allowing him to be kept.

If you get to keep 2000 points, ARod can take up 1/3 of those. I can think of several reasons not to keep ARod. For example:

ARod costs me 700 points out of 2000. I draft first. I drop ARod, and keep more guys, then draft him.

Or, I also have Garrett Atkins on my team, and my pitching was young and should be maturing into a great staff. I keep those pitchers, because ARod's value is not as high, relatively speaking.

On my team, I got to keep 1800 points, and players with 3 or fewer years of service are points exempt. If I had had ARod, instead of Atkins (who is points exempt), keeping Alex would have meant dropping BJ Upton and Jake Westbrook. That would have been worth it. But, if it had meant dropping Jimmy Rollins and AJ Burnett, I don't think it would have been. Especially considering that guys like Miguel Cabrera and ARam were also released and available int he draft.

It's all relative.

Yeah, makes sense now. I didn't realize it was done by points. I thought you just got to keep a certain number of players.
