Adam LaRoche and the Pirates have agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth $5 million, according to MLB.com.

The deal would allow the two sides to avoid arbitration and gives LaRoche a raise of $1.8 million over last season. LaRoche has two more seasons left before being eligible for free agency and the Pirates have reportedly talked to him recently about a long-term contract extension.

if LaRoche can refind the stroke he had in Atlanta, he's a great piece for that team. he just really looked clueless for a lot of 2007

FWIW, he's changed his off season regimene to start swinging much earleir, to avoid the classic slow start.

a career year =/= new expected level of production. his 07 was pretty much identical to his 2004 and 2005. Itll be much more of the same for Laroche.
