Schilling spent most of the season hoping to sign a one-year, $13 million extension to remain in Boston and ends up taking a slight cut from that. The move is a no-brainer for the Red Sox, who lock up a quality starter in an otherwise awful market for free agents and do so at a reasonable price that includes zero risk.
