Yes, that's how many times the Cubs have struck out in this series. Twenty, frickin', three!

All of our free swingin' ways and lack of plate discipline have come to a head in this series. Biggest games of the year and the Cubs offense implodes.

The sad thing is I highly doubt we will see an improvement in the next couple of years. Soriano, the prize player of the Chicago Cubs, leads the way of high contract players that have no plate discipline whatsoever.

I'm frustrated but I'm not mad anymore. I'm past mad. I've come to expect this from the Cubs.

Feel free to move this to rants.

I'm really disappointed too so far in the postseason but deep down I shouldn't be surprised.

Until the organization starts focusing on plate discipline and starts balancing our offense with more guys who know the strike zone and how to make a pitcher work, the only way we will ever win a WS will be primarily luck.

1 or 2 guys like Soriano are just fine in a lineup - everyone has them, but you can't have half or more of the offense play that way.

Good pitchers are good pitchers for 2 reason, they have great stuff and they're smart. Add the two of those together and you'll quickly see why our offense can be shut down - they know that most of the time they don't have to throw strikes to get our hitters out - not to mention the fact that they can approach almost every hitter the same way.

When a good pitcher makes a mistake in the strike zone, they often pay for it - when they make a mistake outside the strike zone, the good teams lay off them and force them to get it over the plate. Put yourself in the shoes of a good opposing pitcher - if you have even average control that night, it's not difficult to shut down our offense.

Things have to change or we'll just keep seeing the same futility year after year.

Well, guys like Lee and Aram shouldn't be striking out every time up against ANYONE. That's been the big problem (besides Lilly imploding).
