Prior to San Diego?

My worst nightmare is Prior returning to form with some other team after recovering from the surgery.

I wouldn't say it's my worst nightmare, but I do fear that happening.

 

I more than fear it...I'm resigned to the FACT it will happen.

 

And SD seems like a likely place.

 

 

I still think he will be our #5 next year, though.

 

The Cubs will non-tender him.

 

Bruce Miles says otherwise, so, unless you have some sort of source, it'd be nice if you stopped stating this as though it were a fact.

 

I think it is pretty clear that this is my opinion only. Miles certainly has access. But are his statements more than his opinion based on what he knows?

 

Based on the numbers involved, I can't the see the Cubs tendering him a contract. They might try to get him to bite on an incentive-laden two-year deal, but, in my opinion, he would never take that from the Cubs.

 

Did Bruce comment on the board that Prior was going to be tendered? If so, that is good news.

 

Bruce said it was likely Prior would be back next year in an article about a month back.

Believe me, I would welcome that because I have that common irrational fear that he goes on to succeed with someone else.

 

On a slightly more rational basis, his damage was significant, but much less than many others who have come back strong. Just because Hendry wasted a few million on the Wade Miller experiment (oh brother!) doesn't mean that the money won't be well spent on Prior.
