San Francisco - The Brewers made no mention of it today after being swept by the San Francisco Giants but right-hander Claudio Vargas told a reporter he is heading for the disabled list.

Vargas complained of back pain after being tagged for six runs in two-thirds of an inning Friday night by the Giants. He will be examined Monday in Milwaukee by team physician William Raasch and by all appearances will land on the DL.

That situation leaves the Brewers with several options. They can merely activate Ben Sheets from the disabled list, hoping Sheets can recover from a blister on his middle finger in time to pitch in the big three-game series in Chicago.

As a Brewer fan I really hope this is true! Vargas is our Marquis, the guy who is terrible but somehow ended up with an OK ERA and a decent record in his starts.

If Sheets is unable to fill-in, who will? I guess it won't matter because the Cubs will pretend he's Jake Peavy.

Probably put Capuano back into the rotation ? :( I was so glad they took him out after his past ownage of the Cubs.

Most likely it will be Capuano or Parra, both lefties. Long term it might be Villaneuva but I think he's staying in the minors to finish getting stretched back out to start.
