First in, then out of Sunday's lineup, Encarnacion called La Russa's recent treatment of him "kind of unprofessional" hours after the two met for a second time in as many days.

The meeting's outcome involved an altered lineup card and an MRI of Encarnacion's left knee scheduled for today.

"You're trying to do the best you can the whole time. You see a thing like that and it makes you mad," Encarnacion said regarding the lineup switch. "You try hard. Then a situation like that — you feel bad over that.''

Shortly after the blowout, La Russa hustled for a flight to the West Coast, saying only that Encarnacion was scratched because of leg soreness and will be examined today after failing to attend several previous appointments.

"Whenever he's complained, we've scheduled one but he's not gone a few different times because he felt better," La Russa said.

With La Russa en route to Lambert Field, Encarnacion unloaded.

"If he has anything to say he can come find me and say it. I'll go in there and talk to him. He doesn't have to say it behind my back. It's kind of unprofessional, I think," Encarnacion said.
