When he was picked up in the Barrett trade, he was viewed as a player with potential as an outfielder (dropping the idea of him as a pitcher).

While at Ft. Wayne he had so pretty horrendous numbers. But, at Boise he has really seemed to pick things up.

.255/.331/.461/.792

Is this possibly based on him coming into his own or is Boise considered a hitters' league and this would be account for the improvement?

Does anyone know how he performs defensively in RF?

Is his bright side strong enough where he would/could be considered one of the Cubs top prospects?

Will he remain in Boise the remainder of the year or is Peoria in the sights for this season?

First off, Ft. Wayne is in the MWL and a level higher than Boise in the NWL. That is probably one of the biggest reasons for Kyler Burke's improved numbers. I think the NWL is a hitter's league, but the MWL isn't really a pitcher's league. And while he's now down at short-season A-ball, he's only 19, so he's still at an age-appropriate level.

There are only a few weeks left in the minor league season. Burke will definitely remain at Boise the rest of the way. Given his skill set, his physical tools and the fact that he's only a year removed from being drafted, he's definitely one of the better hitting prospects in the Cubs system.
