Tribe Cuts Hernandez; Delucci to DL

Not been a good year for 40+ aging relievers trying to push the Sun up one more day. The latest victim is Roberto Hernandez, who has been DFA'd. Called up a minor leaguer until probably sunday when Westbrook is expected back. Would imagine they will put Lee in long relief.

 

Also the Tribe put Delucci on the DL with a strained hammy.

The Chicago Cubs have signed Roberto Hernandez to a 3-year guaranteed $15 million dollar deal with a complete no-trade clause and a $35 million dolla buyout.

 

The Cubs, in need of relief help, thought Hernandez was well worth the money.

 

"You can't put a price on quality", said Cubs GM Jim Hendry. "Hernandez has saved 326 games in his career, that bodes well for our pitching staff."

 

When asked about the recent acquisition, Lou Pienella did not sound too happy.

 

"WHAT THE F*!? Damnit Jim!" Piniella went on to break Angel Pagan's neck in the ensuing locker room debacle

If i were to guess, i think the other Tribe might take a serious look at him. They are having some fairly serious issues with their bullpen atm, and McDowell might be able to help him a bit.
