Let's decide

Which would you rather the Cubs take? Wieters and Price, among others, are not options because I wanted to limit them to HS bats. We're not looking at all of them for those of you not following the draft drama.

 

 

My rankings would be

 

1. Mike Moustakas, C/3B

2. Jason Heyward, 1B/RF

3. Michael Burgess, OF

4. Josh Vitters, 3B/LF

5. Matt Dominguez, 3B

 

 

Despite his struggles, I'd take Burgess before Vitters and I know the Vitters army will trash me for it. I don't care.

Vitters army? Where are they?

 

Vitters is sweet. His swing is awesome. Short, compact. Good command of the strikezone. Good plate discipline. People ragging on his fielding need to understand that he hasn't been concentrating on that portion of his game. He can rake foul pole to foul pole. 30+ HR power? Maybe more like 25. So what. Vitters for homecoming king!!!

You can talk good about Vitters all you want but the other guys stack up better. His plate D and "command" of the strike zone has been questioned.

HS bats scare me, but I'll give Wilken the benefit of doubt for a couple of years. I too voted Moustakas.

yup... I've read says his reflexes are really good, so he swings at pitches he shouldn't swing at, because he's able to hit them. Sounds like a future Cub to me.

I really think Moustakas can change to behind the dish. That easily gives him an advantage over a slightly better hitter in Jason Heyward.
