Rumor from Gotham Admin

Despite recent injuries, John Patterson has been one of the best starting pitchers in baseball the last two years. Hes entering his prime while still in his first year of arbi. Hes been consistent home and away as well. He keeps the ball in the park, strikes out a ton, doesn't walk many and therefore keeps guys off the basepaths.

If Bowden craves Milledge, but has been flat out refused, does anyone think he might find Pie + others as an acceptable consolation?

I acknowledge that health is a big issue and cannot be overlooked, but if we assume that the cubs have done their due diligence medically he would be an amazing pick up.

Isn't Milledge a lot better than Pie?

His lackluster performance in the majors last year coupled with the realization that he cannot play CF has lead to his value drastically shrinking. Yes, Milledge is still more highly thought of than Pie, and by a decent margin, but they are somewhat similarly viewed players. I'm not saying they are equal, I'm just wondering if Pie (+ others) would be an ample "plan B" to Milledge.

Also, IMO Soriano is what Pie projects to be at the most optimistic level. I'd rather not have two of those types of players on a team that already has horrible OBP.
