Marlins acquired RHP Matt Lindstrom and RHP Henry Owens from the Mets for LHP Jason Vargas and LHP Adam Bostick.

This certainly won't be leading off any highlight shows tonight, but it's a pretty interesting trade, especially considering it's between division rivals. Vargas was easily the most highly regarded of the above pitchers a year ago, but he had a disastrous year and both Lindstrom and Owens stepped up and became pretty good relief prospects. Lindstrom, who made an impressive recovery from a stress fracture of his right humerus, had a 3.38 ERA and a 70/21 K/BB ratio in 58 2/3 innings, most of them coming in Double-A. He can reach the high-90s with his fastball, so even though he does turn 27 in February, he has a chance to become a setup man or even a closer. Both he and Owens will need to be watched very closely in spring training.

Strange trade, but something tells me one of these guys will make their former team reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally regret this deal.

My money is on Vargas. He's got a good enough history to bounce back effectively.

That's what I was thinking. Hell he carried one of my fantasy rotations for awhile.
