Are you an anarchist? Just asking...

Do you think the franchise is suddenly going to lose direction without the immortal Hendry running things?

No I'm not an anarchist. Are you a sadist? You seem to enjoy what Hendry is doing to the team.

I am somebody who wants to give qualified people an honest chance to make right, and then reward them if they do. Hendry was seemingly qualified, and had his chance. But he didn't get the job done, and has had more than enough time to succeed. He inherited a team that was already greatly affected by his own work, and now that team isn't good. I have no faith in his ability to do a 180 and start making things right. I have no idea why somebody would sit here and admit his failures, admit that he doesn't deserve another shot, but advocate keeping him anyway.

Because I'm forgiving, that's why. I'm a poor, downtrodden, and pathetic bleeding heart at seeing the underdog win.

Actually it's because I've fired people before and sometimes come to regret it in the end.

Besides, where would Jim get his money for all those fancy steak dinners, anyway?

He'd get his money.

Lack of consistency in winning is probably a more accurate way of saying it, and lack of management's ability to field a winner might be a better way of saying it.

I don't follow things that closely, but having three GM's in fifteen years and five in the last twenty doesn't jump out as consistency to me...

Actually, maybe it's six in the last 20, because didn't MacPhail kinda serve as "GM" for a period of time before hiring Ed Lynch?

If I'm wrong I'm wrong.

this doesn't prove anything more than the organization has made some pretty terrible moves at GM in the past 20 years, and hendry seems to be fitting right in.

what's illogical to me is that a corporation like the trib insists on employing grizzled "baseball men" to run this particular part of their business when employing statisticians would make much more business sense.

hendry doesn't have a plan for this team, it appears like he's just going about his job in a willi-nilli fashion. not to be confused with milli-vanilli.

i don't want an underdog, i want someone who knows what they're doing.

people who aren't good at their jobs get fired, period.

his contract would be bought out. don't feel sorry for hendry, he won't actually be living out of a cardboard box on clark, if that's why you're feeling sorry for him.
