I thought it was interesting that Ryan Theriot's 2001 Upperdeck XRC is worth a mere 40 cents in Beckett...

...YET, one just sold on eBay for $4.15 after 8 bids.

That NEVER happens with sports cards.

This kid is taking the nation by storm!!!!!!!

Go Riot!

A card is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, especially when it comes to ebay. It's funny that someone was willing to drop over $4.00 for that card, especially considering what they have been selling for. A lot of 5 sold for $2.25 earlier. FWIW a lot of 75 sold for a little over $42 under a week ago.

99% of the time though, Beckett's value will cap what people will bid. This case is strange is that Beckett value obviously had no effect of the price. The 1997 David Ortiz rookies of late went through the whole higher market price, THEN higher Beckett price process that might happen with the Theriot rookie. Though not to that extent.

Nothing against The Riot, but this is a case of someone overspending rather than being patient. They could have visited an ebay store and bought 12 of the same card for $6.00 more

Not sure who bought it or where they were from (maybe it was his mother!!), but prices do go up in a player's hometown or the team's hometown. Kind of like if you wanted a great deal on some Cubs card (which you could probably get in Chicago at this point!!), go to another city for it.
