He's been scored on in 6 straight outings. The poor guy is embarrassing himself and continuing to run him out there in his current state will just shatter his confidence. Sticking him in middle relief won't help his ego either. 15 day DL is the logical place for him.

Why would you put anybody on the DL in September? Doesn't make any sense to with the expanded rosters.

i think the point was rather than putting in middle relief or not pitching him, which would be a demotion, put him on the dl and try to save some face/confidence. he is signed as the closer for next season. i don't see hendry getting someone else and i worry if we shift howry and eyre to that role fulltime. i don't want see a hawkins incident. also that is about our only solid part of the team is the set up guys..we move them around and we weaken us in another spot. so let's do whatever to get him right again.

DL is the least sadistic option right now. Give him a couple of weeks off to work with the coaches and get his head straight, then hope he can finish the season on a high note. Better that than to keep running a guy out there when he's just humiliating himself.
