He's back in the show. You'd think this was the second-coming:

"You could hear him coming," manager Buck Showalter said with a chuckle. "Everybody's excited to have him back. We have a lot of good memories about him. ... Hopefully, he'll give us a little juice here."

"You can never have too much veteran leadership," said Showalter.

"The way we looked at it was what [Young] brings on the field and in the clubhouse at this point was more valuable than an extra arm in the 'pen," general manager Jon Daniels said.

“It’s awesome, we all love E-Y. He’s a great guy, a great teammate,” said three-time All-Star shortstop Michael Young, who greeted him with an enthusiastic bear hug. “He helps us out on the field, in the clubhouse, in every way imaginable. It’s definitely going to be a huge plus for us to have him.”

Eric Young said he is excited to be back in Texas because the Rangers are still within striking distance of Oakland: "Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, we're close enough," he said. "Yeah, I'm in the middle of a pennant race." And it gives him a chance to show he still has something left after the Padres shocked him by letting him go.

"That was difficult," he said. "It caught me off guard. But every negative that happens, a positive happens. The positive is coming here. I don't feel like I'm finished. I'm not ready to retire. Hopefully, I can come in and give these guys whatever lift they need."
