People have speculated about the Cubs resigning Maddux. What type of draft compensation would be involved. Obviously the Cubs don't value draft picks since they as they gave up a 2nd,3rd and 4th last year. Keeping draft picks and gaining extras should be taken into consideration.Instead of unloading a player who is a free agent and getting very little, how about holding on to them and getting extra picks the next draft. Also,if Walker leaves San Diego, what kind of compensation will they get?

there's no way you were getting compensation for maddux anyway, since you'd have to offer him arby and he'd accept. i guess you could hope that somebody signed him early on in free agency, but the only team that stupid is the cubs.

Maddux accepts arby from the Braves when they offered it heading into the 2003 season. From what it sounded like, the Braves were in it for the picks and got Maddux for a lot of money on the wrong side of his career.
