A blurb about Eric on CNNSI:

Eric Patterson, Second Base, Cubs, (Double-A): Because the Cubs have had such good luck with Pattersons past. But while Eric's older brother (former Cub phenom Corey Patterson) has blossomed in Baltimore, this Patterson should give Northsiders hope: .279 AVG, five homers, 28 stolen bases. When Eric Patterson learns to cut down on the strikeouts (65:30 K:BB) he'll cement his blue-chip status.

A lot of problems with that.

First off, Pattersons "blossoming"? Corey Donald Patterson is at .278/.315/.426 on the year. The steals are nice...if you're in fantasy baseball. He's 14th out of 20 qualified CFers.

Eric Patterson is 23, he strikes out too much and walks too little. I'm not too excited about his status as a prospect.

Eric won't be ready to take over the starting 2B job until midseason 2007 at the earliest, with the way things have been going. His defense is apparently better than people originally expected, but he still has a number of things to work on before being ready to come up.

Still, he's a good prospect and could end up becoming a solid major leaguer.
