Because we had the freaking idiot with the 7 plus ERA start the damn game!

 

Rusch isn't an idiot, he's just an awful pitcher.

If you're looking for an Idiot, then the guy who keeps sending him out there would qualify.

 

Actually, Glendon is part of the reason why I think that major league contracts need to change, so that if you release a player you only have to buy out a portion of their contract instead of paying the whole thing.

 

Because what happens is, guys like Glendon get that two year contract, and have no incentive to work hard and stay in shape in the offseason. It's not like he has hall of fame apsirations or something to keep him motivated. So he gets fat, and sucks, and still collects that payday.

 

If the Cubs could release him and only have to pay half the contract, then he'd have motivation to try as hard as he can.
