What I want from an owner

I know we've had this discussion before, and that there are those that believe that ownership doesn't have an affect on the team beyond the payroll, and I understand that point of view. The Tribune has contributed a payroll that should be enough to be successful.

 

But I want an owner with this kind of enthusiasm for the team.

 

I truly believe that the Cubs won't win a World Series with the Tribune for ownership. I really, really hope I'm wrong, because I also don't see them selling anytime soon.

It certainly would be nice if we had an actual owner where the buck stops as opposed to a faceless and ugly corp. I've always been jealous of teams like the Steelers and Chiefs, who have had longtime familial ownership that cares about the fans and wants to win. Babseball as much as any other sport has become robotic and corporate. There's no more family ownership in the game - just 10 or so years ago there was such ownership of the Dodgers and Red Sox.

Man....we can't catch a break in Chicago. We've got the faceless corpoate ownership. (Tribune Corp-Bad), and we've got the familial ownership. (McCaskeys-Bad, Wirtzs-Catastophic.)
