"Slated for Boise ... Mark Pawelek, the Cubs’ first-round pick in last year’s draft, is currently in Extended Spring Training in Arizona and slated to make his 2006 debut at Low A Boise when short-season play begins next month, per Cubs officials. Pawelek was named the Arizona League’s top prospect by Baseball America in 2005. He had a 2.72 ERA in 14 appearances for the Mesa Cubs, and struck out 56 in 43 innings. He posted a .170 average against."

yea I was a little disappointed at first that he did not start at Peoria, but now that I look back on it I think it was the right decision. I say give him about maby 50 innings in Boise, then Peoria next year.

i'm jazzed pawelek will be in the northwest league -- i'm hoping they'll also have bill rowell. my girlfriend and i are gonna see 'em in everett
