From the description and the fact he was a freshman, I wonder if it was a hazing incident that went way too far.

I read this story yesterday, then saw something on the bottom line under the NCAA heading that said "self inflicted gunshot", so I just assumed it was related to this story. Anybody know if that's the case?

I hadn't really heard was officially happened to the player yet, so I went on an internet search and it looks like it is officially ruled suicide by a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Here is an article from yesterday that talks about it briefly...rather scary article if you read all the way through it.
