Assuming that Wood and Prior are back by the all-star break, the Cubs will have 8 potential starters (Z, Maddux, Wood, Prior, Williams, Marshall, Guzman, Hill). There is always a market for starters at the break. If the Cubs are out of it, everyone except Z and Prior are available IMO. If they're in it, I would see what Hill, Guzman or Williams could get. And I could be easily swayed for Prior as well.

We should be dealing with the Angels for some of their stud middle infield prospects.

You forgot about Wade Miller, who I'm hoping with regain his form upon his return in late May. He could be a big boost to the rotation.

That's true, and if Sean Marshall works out, then we will be in a very GOOD situation. .

Zambrano, Wood, Miller, Maddux, Marshall.

That's how I'm hoping it will work out right now. Because honestly the way Wood is progressing and the questions surrounding Prior I have more faith that Wood will come back and have a good year this year. Not so much Prior. If all works out we will finally have a good rotation this year! My point is there is more of a chance of it all working out THIS year because we GOT Miller, and we GOT a couple young guns showing some progress. This is exciting. .

Prior is frustrating, but he still so young and the stuff is there. Take away the liner off the elbow last year and he was a stud.

True but it's good to see the Cubs are moving beyond Prior and have some kids that look ready to step up.

Why did the Mets just give up on Pagan? Did they have roster trouble? I seem to remember the cubs bought Pagan so I think he was released. was he waived and why didn't anyone else pick him up if that's the case?

I think the Mets had a logjam in the OF. You think with me working around all these Met fans I would have some insight, but they don't know anything!

they traded and or signed every single available player so they ran out of room on their 40 man.

I've actually posted on their site and asked them this same question and they all weren't high on him at all. They said at best he's a 5th outfielder. I tend to disagree, but who knows...

It's easy to forget that this is just ST. Unless the kid is on roids or something...

The Cub's official website shows 26 guys still on the active roster...anyone know where the mistake is? I'm pretty sure it's still 27.

Wade Miller is the 27th, neither reasigned to minor league camp or DL'd officially yet, he is technically still on the team.

according to mlb.com Novoa is picthing the ninth, that can't be right.

Just because he was optioned to AAA, doesn't mean he can't still pitch in major league spring training.

Ahhh...so that means the roster is pretty much set, except for the last spot between Marshall and Koronka...

it does, however, make little sense.

It's going to be real interesting to see who stays and who goes if/when they have Wood, Prior, AND Maddux back all at the same time. I'd never wish a player got hurt, but let's just say I wouldn't be upset if Rusch pulled a hammy and went on the DL, making the decisions a little easier for Hendry.

I think you mean Miller.

There's always a market for lefty's.

mlb.com's scoreboard has Howry pitching the 9th...
