says here Rusch is penciled in as the #2 starter.Guess he became Dustys boy after saving us in 2004.

Yeah, I know this is being discussed in another

thread. I think it has more to do with allowing Maddux to open at Wrigley against STL. I don't think Dusty views him as a number 2 pitcher.

I would hope not, but you never know with Dusty. Saving Maddux for the Wrigley opener is probably a smart move though.

It will allow Maddux (Williams) and Zambrano to pitch against the Cardinals instead of Rusch, Williams, and Zambrano

Yeah I agree with that strategy then. We should be able to beat the Reds despite Rusch.

So the first three games will be Zambrano, Rusch, and Williams?

No, it will be Zambrano, Rusch, and Maddux. The Cincy series is a two-gamer.

So Maddux will open at home against STL followed by Williams and Zambrano.

Gotta love the old "Slip the lefty between your two best righties to change things up" strategy.

Amazing how that Hawkins for Williams deal changed 2006. Without that trade we'd almost be talking about a rebuilding year

.....which when I look at how this season is shaping up, might not have been a bad thing.

I'll be at the April 8th game. Looks like I'll be seeing Williams then.
