Ok...I started this in social a little over a week ago, but we're at critical mass.

 

Somehow the Astros in one day made up a 15 percentage point lead and added six to it.

The election almost turned Chicago's way after a posting by Vance Nickelson of Monroe — known in cyberspace as "vance_the_cubs_fan" and "Vance72" — on a MLB message board soliciting fans nationwide.

 

"Our local paper allows readers to vote for the 'home team' that the newspaper will cover during the baseball season," Nickelson wrote on March 11. "Last year, we were subjected to Astros coverage. Due to WGN, there is a strong pocket of Cubs fans and we need your help."

 

Nickelson kept the thread going throughout the voting process — and voted at least three times using different e-mail addresses.

 

 

I found this amusing:

 

Funniest of all was an e-mail from "ihatedaastros@aol.com."
