No,its just the spring optimism we go through every year. This guy comes into camp heavier, they say he bulked up.If he comes in thinner, they say its so he can be quicker. This helps creates the optimism.

I don't think they liked getting embarrassed last season. Watching the Astros celebrate wasn't the best experience in the world, either.

Let's hope that drive lasts 162+ games.

How is them getting embarrassed last year any different than them getting embarrassed in 2004, or 2003, or 2002, etc., etc., etc.

I think that trying to guage focus and mentality of a team is a lot like a booth commentator saying whether or not he agrees with a questionable move on the field, with the whole "if it works he's a genius, if it doesn't, he's an idiot."

If the Cubs go on to win it all this year, then yes, they showed up to spring training more focused and more together, and everyone drove that extra mile in preparing for this momentous season.

If the Cubs don't win it all this year, then there's no difference between this season's ST and the 98 before it.

I wouldn't say they got embarassed in 2003, though it was a dissappointing end to a magical season.

After a couple of ST games, I stand by what I said, this team IS more focused and doing the little things it takes to win. I love what I have seen so far. I have a real good feeling about this year. The only concern I have is injuries.
