From Jim Callis' chat (espn insider):

Norm, The Heights of Arlingon, IL: Hey Jim, You listed Pie at 9. I'm a Cub fan, but Pie's numbers scream Corey Patterson. What is it about him that people love????

Jim Callis: Great tools, and he's making adjustments better than Patterson did. Remember, that's my list for next year, after 20 or so of the game's best prospects have graduated to the majors.

No, its not. But I do think it's dumb that he was comparing their outcomes based on what each player started with. Just because Patterson failed doesn't mean Pie will because they had similar stats/skills.

That I definitely agree with. The "Corey bombed, Felix will too" arguments have got to go.

PECOTA's #1 comparable to Felix Pie: Corey Patterson.

FWIW, I wish Hendry would have traded Corey in May of last year when he could have gotten a very nice return. Since he didn't do so, I wish that we had kept him around. Did we really need Jacque Jones in RF for $15 million over 3 years?

At least Corey was hitting near the bottom of the lineup during his last days as a Cub. We can expect Jacques to hit in the 5 spot or (shudder) the 2.

I remember back a couple years ago when a segment of fans were dead set agains trading Patterson for Andruw Jones. That's exactly why I'll be open to trade Pie if the right veteran becomes available.
