It made me feel a little more optomistic about his chances at improvement this coming year. He seems to have the right attitude and mental makeup to turn it around.

Jacque has been working with Tony Gwynn during the off season to get his average back toward the .300 range. JJ stated he was embarassed by his .249 average last year and is determined to improve.

Getting away from that dome may help too. I get the feeling he did not like playing there very much (possibly psychological). If he gets away from trying to pull the ball as he did too frequently in Minnesota he will be fine. The lack of power in the Twins lineup forced him into a role not suited to him.

I can see him hitting the ball to all fields this year with some pop. All in all I feel good about him in right. He could very well be a sleeper pickup. He has the right tools to be successful but he must improve against LHP.
