Hank White Wins Caribbean Series

Henry Blanco got the game winning hit against the DR to clinch Venezuela's first winter league championship since 1989.

 

He was credited with a base hit when his pop fly to shallow left field hit the shortstop on the top of the head after he lost the ball in the lights allowing the winning run scored from third.

 

Jeremi Gonzalez was 1-0 with a 1.20 ERA and 12 K in 15 innings in the Series.

In some ways, its a shame, because Venezuela played some good baseball throughout the series. In other ways, its appropriate, because some of the games had a feeling of oddness about them that that hit exemplified.
