Terrible numbers off the bench, ridiculously high strikeout numbers... no thanks.

Well...

Brewers designated infielder Russell Branyan for assignment.

The Brewers could keep trying to trade him before he has to go on waivers next week, but there have been no takers so far. His non-guaranteed, one-year contract worth $800,000 should be attractive to some team. Jan. 9 - 7:00 pm et

Branyan has as many holes in his swing as Patterson, Dubois and Hee K Me combined. Just say no.

Are you a trade the farm for Dunn guy, Don? Just curious.

Nope. Dunn doesn't excite me all that much. He's a slugger yes, but so was Dave Kingman. People fixate on Dunn's OBP, and it is nice, but that's in part because for a long time he's been surrounded in the Cincy lineup with weak bats--we've all seen teams pitch around Dunn. When Cincy managers batted Dunn lower in the order, like 5th, that only compounds matters because now you're DEFINITELY going to walk him, or at least give him nothing good to hit, because you have decidedly weaker bats following him.

There aren't many guys I'd "trade the farm" for, Dunn isn't one of them. Of course, a cynic could point out that our farm doesn't have a lot of value, so why NOT trade it away, but that is a different question and a different thread.
