The BA book is under $20 before shipping at Amazon.

Thanks. I was thinking that the price had REALLY gone up since last year, but I forgot about the amazon connection.

I like getting both Sickels and the BA Handbook. They take differing approaches, so sometimes it's nice to be able to put my hands on both for differing perspectives.

Curious, how are their approaches different? Is Sickels is more of a SABER guy?

Yes, Sickels is more of a saber guy and probably has a much more stringent rating scale.

Sickles doesn't have the connections that the BA guys do (mostly by the nature of being BA guys) so he is a sabre guy more by default. This has forced him into some errors such as stating a particular hard throwing SS was moved to 2B because he lacked the arm... He also doesn't get the buzz of a guy that a team really likes after rookie ball...

That said he's not like that topprospect site that, by and large, just parroted what they heard from sources like BA and Sickles.

I think of BA as the default. I like reading Sickels because it isn't the same perspective as BA. I also like how he does the retrospectives and looks back at how he rated players when they were prospects and what went right and what went wrong.

He released the 50/50 list (50 top position player & pitching prospects). The entire list is copyrighted and intended for those who pre-ordered the book.

Pie comes in at #25 on the position player list.

Pawelek is #36 & Veal is #48 on the pitching list.
