The only 2005 players still on the roster who should be considered untouchable are Prior, Z, Dempster, Lee and ARam. Everybody else should be available for the right price.

Technically I wouldn't call anybody untouchable. I'd trade Prior and Z "in the right deal", but that right deal isn't likely to come along. I'd trade Dempster in a heartbeat for a good player. I'd trade Lee or ARam in a deal where they can be replaced as well.

Helton? Good grief.

Care to elaborate?

His contract is terrible.

And?? Even if Lee regresses to career norms next season, his contract will probably look quite similar. Sure, we age 2 years at one position (but likely get much better numbers for a couple of years), but we also get a good young outfielder as well.

I'm right there with you - I've always felt that there are never any untouchable players - any deal that can improve your ballclub should be considered.

Helton's contract is $16.6 million for 2006-2010. It goes up to $19.10 million for 2011. So basically we would be taking on a 6-year contract worth over $102 million for a player who would be 38 at the end of the contract. No thank you.

That's a pretty rough contract.
