  1. I'm actually embarrassed to be a Cubs fan right now.
  2. A trade never gets a GM fired, but you are right this trade makes no sense for Bradley/Silva straight up. Even with Bradley having almost no value. He has to have more then Silva at this point. Silva probably had one of the worse contracts in baseball right now. So this deal doesn't make sense unless were getting money or prospects in return. Hendry loves bad contracts. Might as well add another one to the list.
  3. The clown should have been fired years ago and yet still he's retained his job. Don't hold your breath, I sure as heck will not.
  4. WTF!!! Leave it to Hendry to do his best to make the Cubs a worse team than before! The biggest mistake ownership did was not get rid of this moron the moment they took over.
  5. None of this is remotely true. You can say that, but I'd take Pujols, Holliday, Carpenter and Wainwright as my building block over what the Cubs have right now, and if the Cardinals had the Cubs payroll, they could have filled in a few more holes pretty nicely. The Cubs window is closing rapidly, with not a whole lot of hope to expand on payroll anytime soon. I'd honestly say the Cubs window has closed.
  6. They've already gotten 2 very good years from him. I meant to see 2-3 more good years.
  7. I would say at least a 100 point higher OPS(maybe 150). Lets not pretend 34 is super old. Soriano still has a few good years left before we can start saying he's old. LOL no it's not. At this point you are just commenting on my post to comment. Last offseason I said hey lets give some of these moves a chance after people were jumping all over Hendry. Since he made a bunch of moves before that people didn't love and they worked out. I only made those comments after watching people calling for Hendry head after he just had a very good 08 season as GM. In hindsight I will admit you guys were mostly right to bash the moves he made last offseason. That though has nothing to do with what I'm saying right now. I'm saying lets see WHAT WE DO FIRST before we judge the TEAM. We haven't even added any players to the team yet, so our offseason hasn't really even started. Yet people are talking like this team is ready to go to Spring training. If people don't like the moves Hendry ends up making thats fine. But lets at least make some moves before we call this a horrible offseason. With the way the players performed last year they weren't better then 83 and 78. What I questioned if the team is mediocre right now. Since I expect a good amount of players on the roster to have better seasons and I think our bullpen has a chance to be better as well. You honestly believe Soriano has a "few" good years left? I disagree. The guy started breaking down the moment he put on a Cubs uniform. We'll be lucky to get 2-3 "good" years from him.
  8. I normally would laugh at this but I'm keeping my mouth shut considering we have a good chance to end up with Podsednik
  9. Now I'm really worried. I'm worried Hendry will jump in and offer Cameron a 3 year deal.
  10. We should definitely look at Kelly Johnson and also Jonny Gomes who was just non-tendered by the Reds. He's got good power and could come in handy from the bench and maybe even spot start.
  11. That would seriously improve the lineup but I doubt it happens unfortunately.
  12. I wouldn't stop watching the Cubs if Bradley stayed on, if anything, in this circumstance it's probably best to keep him for at least one more year but if we end up with Podsednik, I indeed might stop watching the Cubs this year.
  13. I don't know if this was discussed but Soriano accepted arb from the Braves and basically got traded for prospects. Why couldn't we have done the same thing with Harden? If he signed with another team we would have gotten picj and If he accepted arb with us I'm sure at the very least we could have traded him for something.
  14. There's NO trade out there that would improve our team. Hendry signed him for 3 years we might as well deal with his BS and use the guy. To trade him for Burrell or Silva would only make this team worse and it's pretty bad already. I fully expect not to make the playoffs again.
  15. Yup, that is probably what is going to happen. Hendry the moron did his best to completely eliminate Bradley's value and in the process made the 3rd year guaranteed. What a moron.
  16. I've always liked Church so I wouldn't mind having him added to the team at all.
  17. I think it's too early to assume Cashner will end up as a relief pitcher. He's done well in the minors as a starter and he obviously has the stuff to be effective. -
  18. 3 years is too much to give for a pitcher his age. I'm sure Atlanta is regretting giving Lowe that deal last year.
  19. I'd rather have kept Harden on a 1yr deal. I don't see us having interest in Piniero though to be honest.
  20. Sucks to see Fox go but I LOVE to see Miles gone. Does this officially make all of Hendry's "acquisitions" last offseason gone from the team?
  21. make or break? The guy has been broken for a very long time now. He is a horrible GM.
  22. How did we exactly sign or acquire Castro? Was it through the international free agency?
