  1. I lost faith in Hendry late 2004 when he could not acquire a closer when Hawkins was blowing saves left and right and since then he hasn't done enough to get us back to being a contender. What a farce. Hendry needs to go.
  2. Trading Patterson for Finley would be the most pathetic thing the franchise has done in years. That is terrible. I can actually see Hendry do something so stupid just because Finley is a veteran and a lefty. He's damn old and his numbers regressed so bad he should think about retiring.
  3. KW has used his prospects very wisely. He's used them in trades that made his team much better over the past couple years. Hendry hasn't done that. What people tend to forget is the Sox and Cubs were in very similar situations in 2003 and 2004. They were barely over .500. Hendry sat on his hands and tried to let nature take its course, hoping for development and health to improve the team. Williams traded for and signed better players. We can pick apart any individual deal all we want. But the individual deal does not matter. It's the whole package that matters, and Williams has clearly done a better job than Hendry in putting together the whole package. I hate the Pierre trade. But Hendry can make it work if he follows it up with deals that significantly improve the gaping hole in RF, solidifies the bench and settles the rotation. As far as I'm concerned as it stands right now Hendry hasn't done enough for us to even make the playoffs.
  4. I think it's ridiculous we still do not have a RF and the options right now are terrible. Sorry, but Hendry looks to be doing enough just to get by.
  5. I can see it now. An OF of Murton, Pierre, and JJones.
  6. As I said in the other thread, I will be riding the Fire Hendry BandWGN if the Sox slip in and get Miggy. If it's one team that would pull the trigger on Tejada it would be the WSox.
  7. The only thing about giving away Chris Young is they have two other top prospects at the CF position. No, I would personally not do it but it does strengthen their rotation and he did trade from depth.
  8. May be Young will pan out and may be he won't, but the Sox traded from a position of strength (or at least depth) to once again upgrade their rotation with a proven SP who is, at worst, a no. 2 in any rotation in the game. I think the Sox done good. This also allows Williams to spin off one of the other SPs to improve his offense. He is? He had a terrible second half in NY and picthed in a launching pad in AZ last year. IMO, its an abberation and he is still a very good pitcher. Yeah, I don't know how or why Vazquez pitched so bad for the Yanks and at times for the DBacks. His velocity was never down and he has nasty stuff. The talent is still there no doubt.

They look far better off than we do.
  10. That guy gets rid of prospects like it's nobodies business.
  11. And it was almost like a two level jump for him, since due to his 2002 injury he had only a little over 100 at-bats above A-ball before 2003.Do other organizations have as many injuries to their prospects like the Cubs do? It just seems there are a lot of injuries to our prospects.
  12. That's not even close to what they supposedly were asking from us. I forget the name of their pitching prospect, but considering Anaheim's superior minor league system, he's probably better than anything the Cubs are offering. Cabrera & Shields are nice pickups too. I wouldnt call Cabrera a nice pickup when you consider his numbers and salary. It's very possible the prospect they were offering was top notch but they were asking for 2 of our top prospects as well as others. I think Cedeno can be better than Cabrera and much cheaper.
  13. That's not even close to what they supposedly were asking from us.
  14. How many runs did KW score? How is that relative? He is the one who put the team together. Nor did I say it took 11 men to win the WS which is what I am responding to. Frankly, I'm surprised how some of you are completely discounting what he did last year by calling it pure luck. Sour Grapes. Some of it was luck however most teams that win the WS are lucky. So KW deserves no credit for building the WS roster and hiring the manager? Wasn't it a batboy or something that told Guillen to pinch hit Blum in Game 3 of the World Series? (I definitely heard Guillen say this in an interview on ESPN) Sign him to a contract because he helped win a title! Guillen is the type of guy who would make things up. Secondly, that is only one game how about the others? You guys see it the way you do and call it pure luck. I will see it the way I do and say that the man deserves credit for what he did with the team last year.

  17. Earned by 11 men eh? Gee, I forgot the pitchers can score runs too. Come on that's ridiculous. Don't forget it was KW who put the team together as well. Like I said before I'm not saying KW is the best GM in baseball but he deserves credit for winning the WS. It's that simple.
  18. Nobody said he was the best GM but some fans completely discount the fact that he deserves credit. They call it luck, I call it sour grapes.
  19. So stupid he is wearing a world series ring. Yeah, whatever.
  20. Bobby Wade has been cut!!
  21. Cool. Thanks guys that makes it official.
  22. There's no doubting Bradley had excess baggage but he is talented and he would be an upgrade over what we had in RF last year. It doesn't matter now considering he went to the A's. Now we have the luxury of awaiting JJones or Encarnacion in RF next year.
  23. I get so sick and tired of people when they get so optimistic about the season when clearly there are several holes on this team and have possibly regressed yet again for the 2nd consecutive year. Let's get ready to light up the firworks boys!
  24. His risks paid off and he deserves credit IMO. To me, it's that simple. If Hendry took some risks and they paid off he deserves credit for them too. If you're playing blackjack and you hit on 19 and get a 2 for a 21, do you deserve credit for taking a risk or was it a stupid gamble nevertheless? If it pays off, of course. The simple fact is it wasn't only the risks that got them there. It's not like the entire lineup was full of scrubs. Give credit where it's due. The GM deserves it. If you guys see it differently than so be it.
