  1. Sorry Sulley I just don't see it the way you do. I've seen quite a few GB games this year and I don't think the talent around him is what's hurting him the most. I think it's his decision-making. He has made a lot of questionable decisions. Even without Javon Walker he still has Driver as well as Ferguson(oft-injured) and I actually think Chatman looked pretty good for you guys. Your TEs also stepped up when Franks got hurt too. Gado was doing a much better job than Ahman Green was so I don't buy that either. Losing your guards will hurt of course but you still have two solid tackles. Guards are replaced easier and for the most part your line was pretty good against the Bears line on Sun.
  2. favre's career isn't over. if he insists on playing for the packers, it probably is. but the pack had a ton of injuries this season and not much to start with. favre's really not that old. Injuries or not his decisions are very questionable. He throws passes that no matter who you have as your WR they won't make. I highly doubt all of his INTs have to do with the talent around him. well, first take into account the departures of wahle and rivera-- two excellent guards, the loss of his best receiver, the loss of his 3 top running backs, the periodic absences of bubba franks. then, take into account that he's generally playing from behind because his defense can't stop the run at all--and you can start to understand why he's taking so many risks and why he's throwing so many picks. he's desperate, and he's taking ridiculous chances--not unnecessarily. favre is like 35 years old, his mind hasn't all of a sudden deserted him, he's not at risk for alzheimer's yet, his arm is just as good as it was during the 90's. i don't see what's changed other than his team, which is terrible, favre has been forced to do it all--and he nearly did it for the packers against a much superior bears team on Christmas day. Favre's decision-making has always been questioned. This year has been a lot worse because let's face it some of his throws make you wonder what he was thinking. The GB defense was ranked 8th overall and sure they couldn't stop the run but their defense wasn't that bad. 1st ranked pass defense. You say he lost his top 3 RBs and I say your top RB was Gado who was clearly doing more than Ahman Green(that's another story) or the others you had. It's a shame he got hurt but even with him tearing it up GB didn't exactly win all their games either. Favre hasn't thrown a TD in what 3 or 4 games? Something isn't right. Against the Bears, Favre would just throw the ball away and get called for intentional grounding instead of taking the sack? What was that? I found that very odd coming from Favre considering that was poor decision-making as well as hurt your team in the process. Not having your starting guards definitely hurt but that's not the entire story. I also think Sherman has to go. He really put a hurt on the GB franchise. GB last year had salary cap problems and some of Sherman's draft picks were very questionable. Even if Favre comes back the best thing GB can do is get rid of Sherman IMO.

  4. Prior will win at LEAST 2 Cy's in Baltimore. At least. Leave it to Hendry to make the rotation a strength, then make it a glaring weakness at the expense of a 30 year old shortstop on the downturn. And then people wonder why he gets criticized. Maybe its pointless to point this out, but the trade hasn't actually been agreed to yet. This wouldn't be the first time Levine and the sports media have been very wrong about something. If this trade does happen, it will probably be by far the worst deal Hendry has made. But if I remember correctly, someone said Levine was still reporting it as a 50/50 chance that any kind of trade gets made. It doesn't matter if the trade hasn't gone through. Hendry has done stuff the past couple of years that have left him open to be criticized and IMO even offering Prior up for trade isn't a good thing either. What does that tell the player if the trade fell through? All of a sudden we have disgruntled players on this team. Then again he won't be the first to be disgruntled under Hendry's tenure. I am sorry, and I am not saying that you or anyone else currently involved in thsi convo was one of these guys, but a few months ago we had a protracted discussion re the relative importance (and existence) of "chemistry". Most asserted that it does not exist or that is does not matter. Many who took this position asserted that players should just perform and and be pros and not worry about their "feelings". I disagreed, arguing that this was an unrealistic approach. Does your bolded statement imply that Prior's feelings could effect his performance and the team's overall chemistry? Does anyone else think it might? I don't know if it does or not but Hendry has made it a point to sign guys or do things that are good for chemistry. I think to me at least trying to trade one of your better players and them finding out will make it more difficult for them to want to come back to this organization.

  7. I think JH is counting on the rotation looking like this: Z Wood Maddux Williams Guzman I'd certainly rather it be that way than having Rusch in the rotation, so may be its wishful thinking on my part. Aside from Z the pitching rotation would be pathetic. Do you guys really expect Wood to be back and injury free? Maddux is likely going to regress again this year. Williams is a good #5 right now and Guzman is in the same category as Wood. TERRIBLE.
  8. This is just crazy. If the trade goes through we will regret the trade ever happened.
  9. We're locked up with the #2 seed and Minn has been eliminated so no but I wonder if a loss will give us a better draft pick.
  10. I find it more amazing that he's only 33. I could have sworn he looked at least 40 the last time I saw him. 30 HR in 349 ABs is pretty darn impressive, though. I guess he liked what he saw of BOB last year (19 in 167). Never noticed that either. I too thought he was like 40. Good call.
  11. See, I'd think that, but considering most Cardinals fans on this board would be pleased to see the Cubs make this move and most of the rational White Sox fans over on WSI also would like to see the Cubs make this move, I'm inclined to doubt that. Although I wouldn't do the deal, by no means is it a ripoff. A few thoughts: 1) I think most NSBB members overlook is Prior's injury history too much. The fact is he hasn't *proven* to be durable. After coming back from his freaky elbow injury he didn't look right. Anyone should agree that Prior hasn't proven to be durable. He's had a few non-freak, pitching motion-related injuries since '02 (his Achilles heel injury in 04 has to be counted as pitching motion-related). But I disagree that he didn't look right after he came back last year: The Cubs were 7-2 in the games he started before his injury; his WL record was 4-1. Then he got hurt. In his first 7 starts back he was 2-2 but the Cubs were 5-2 in those starts including big wins against the Cards & White Sox. It looked to me like he didn't miss a beat even if he didn't go deep into games, hence the no-decisions. Except for a clunker in Atl, he was very strong -- sometimes dominating -- in most of his post-injury starts until Aug & Sept. He went 4-4 in Aug & Sept with a couple of dominating starts against Col and Mil, but he generally looked relatively weak those two months, I admit. When he went down his ERA was 2.93 and when the season was over it was 3.67. Anyone have his ERA after the injury on May 27? I don't know what his ERA was but Prior before being hit had his dominating stuff. When he came back his velocity wasn't down and I don't know how many times he used his curve but there was a difference with his pitching. The coaching staff did mention that a fracture like that would need more time to heal and insinuated Prior was probably pitching with minor pain. I'm sure that had something to do with it.
  12. Agreed. I didn't like giving him up but oh well.
  13. I was listening to the Dan Patrick show this morning and I was shocked to hear so many Packers fans call in a stick up for him stating his problem is not enough talent around him or the running game hasnt been good. I'm thinking Gado was better than Ahman Green and others they are just trying to find excises. They don't want to believe their savior's career is coming to an end but when you think about it Favre is gone one way or another in about a year max. His decision making all year has been questionable and also has cost them a lot of points. I personally think he is done.
  14. I don't think that was ever a feasible option. Similar to Giles, he said he never really intended to leave Florida. That is true. We were interested in Catillo but at the end he decided to stay with Florida for a discount.
  15. I do know that the Pirates rested him a lot as well so it wasn't all injuries.
  16. YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING ME!!
  17. Taking a shot at the end zone on 4th and 1 was going for the jugular. Moose has the Packers' throats in his hands, then had it slip out of his hands. How far were we for a field goal?
  18. This is all the coaching's fault for not going for the jugular.
  19. Almost another Int for Favre.
  20. Be that as it may it was right on the money. Moose yet again should have had it.
  21. MOOSE!! DUDE AND HIS DROPS!! That was on the money!
  22. He will probably be ok. He was walking on his own.
