  1. Vance, we can do a running total this year ATS, should be fun. Here's my Week One picks: Miami (+1) Denver (-4) Titans (-2.5) Patriots (-9) Ravens (+3) Bengals (+2.5) Lions (+6.5) Falcons (+5) Texans (+5.5) Saints (+3) Jaguars (-2.5) Packers (+3.5) Cardinals (-7.5) Colts (-3.5) Redskins (-4.5) Chargers (-3)
  2. I hope we lose 1-0 on a lazy flyball to center where Pierre drops a line drive off his glove, falls down, and the ball rolls to the 400 foot sign. Duffy turns it into a four base error and we are graced with loads of Dusty excuses on why Pierre couldn't make the play.
  3. If Aramis Ramirez decides he's had enough, I wouldn't blame him.
  4. Gooooooooo Pack! And may Byron Leftwich and Fred Taylor carry the Jags to an impressive 12-4 this season where they're not looked at as the worst 12-4 team in playoff history.
  5. Oh, because the O-H-I-O chants are so awesome. OHIO is a weak chant. If 1/3 of the shoe chanted THE, next third chanted OHIO, last third chanted STATE, it would be comical. MIZZOU sounds like a decent chant. ILLINI is pretty good too. We are just sounds silly to me.
  6. The "WE ARE" chants are ridiculously stupid. The Whiteouts are awesome.
  7. I feel good that OSU put an ass whooping on a pretty good mid major team while the rest of the lovefest in this thread is beating up on the patsies of football. OSU Texas is gonna rock the house.
  8. If you would have bet straight up with those "fools, its like taking candy from a baby" Packers fans for the last five seasons, you'd be 16 games under five hundo.
  9. do you think San Diego is going to take the take the division away from the broncos with a "rookie" QB? I honestly dont see it happening no matter how good Rivers supposedly is, he will have to pull a roethlisberger type season to win his team the division. One injury to LT could have this team spiraling into the abyss. I don't see at all where Raw said they'd win the division. I love the Broncos this season, but its not a stretch to say that the Chargers can A make the playoffs, and B make a Superbowl run with a great RB, a QB who WILL have a year under his belt (Rivers reminds me a lot of Chad Pennington a few years ago) along with a front 7 that is pretty darn good. Their secondary is still pretty crappy.
  10. Carolina is clearly the class of that division.
  11. I'm pretty sure everyone wants Hill to succeed, abuck. You seemingly want him to succeed to show everyone how smart you are.

Branch is rumored to have deals in place with the Seahawks () and the Jets. The Jets would be foolish to give up a single number one since their odds of sucking are pretty high. Seattle on the other hand would be ummm pretty unstoppable on offense with another great receiver in the fold. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2568851
  13. I think people would be wise to take the Pack minus the three and a half...

    And if anyone thinks that is going to happen, they are fooling themselves. A second round pick is reasonable.

The window for this team is in the short term especially while the teams in the NFC North are in uber-rebuilding mode. They have to go for it now. Briggs is going to be a FA soon, the secondary is going to get expensive and or bad soon (Tillman, Vash looking for new contracts?), MB on the decline. There is a lot of reason for concern. If they could add another weapon on the offensive side for this season, especially at WR, they put themselves near the class of Carolina and Seattle for a shot at the Superbowl.

If the Bears won't give up a second round pick for Deion Branch, they are fools.
  17. Even if Aramis stays I can't believe it wouldn't at least be worth a look at what it might take to get A-Rod. Like you said, unless he explodes and becomes a hero during the playoffs, he's probably gonna be the cheapest and most available he'll ever be during his prime career years. Hell, he could finally play SS again, where he friggin' belongs. To add on, if the desperation is high for the Yanks and Phils to deal their two overpaid sluggers, the cost of players could be low OR you could get the teams to eat some of the salary. If someone knew of what the Yanks owe ARod over the next 5 years of his deal, that'd be a great help. If we could give up decent prospects and had to pay 3/4 of the deal on both sides (Burrell's got what, 3/24 left? 3/18 would be nice for him) we would greatly improve our offense in 07. Edit: just saw Burrell's deal, kinda steep... 13 and 14 million in 07 and 08 respectively. Phillies would have to eat some money on that.
  18. If Ramirez leaves via FA, see what it would take to get ARod from the Yankees. I don't think you could ever get ARod at a cheaper price than you could this offseason. Same goes with Pat Burrell. Although I'd love all three of those (Ramirez, ARod, and Burrell) in our lineup next year, I realize it won't happen.
  19. He'd need to play in 35 of the last 37 games in order to make this amount of games. Try again. try again? you should try again in proving that he's somehow an injury waiting to happen, i don't see a pattern. Edmonds gets hurts once a week. and it's been a career trend in what way? Why does there need to be a career trend to be concerned about his health status for next season? You're reaching.
  20. I think Dierker would finish the job on Z that Dusty started.
  21. He'd need to play in 35 of the last 37 games in order to make this amount of games. Try again.
  22. That is pathetic. Why must people be so ignorant?
  23. How is Murton going to get to a .380 OBP? He's short of .360 this year, and he has a slightly favorable platoon distribution(faced a higher % of LHP than if he played every day) and his BABIP is about 30 points higher than his LD% says it should, which means he doesn't really have much room for growth AVG wise. His minor league IsoD was a little higher, but his BABIP dropping 10 points is just as likely(probably moreso) as him improving those 10 in IsoD. I would think his obp would improve as he progresses a hitter and has a manager who embraces a walk instead of frowning upon it.
  24. with baker gone next year and murton playing every day, i dont see why his slugging % wouldnt go up significantly from this year. he can easily be a .300+ 25 hr guy in 2007 imo. Because he's not that good. I didn't realize players peaked at 25. I see no reason that he can't improve, especially if Dusty's free swinging mentality leaves the clubhouse. There's very little in his past that suggests he's going to hit for any more power than he is now. Maybe he'll be able to maintain it without as heavy a platoon distribution, but it's not often college draftees start hitting for more power at the MLB level after not displaying it anywhere before. If he's playing CF and putting up a .375 OBP, what more do you want out of the guy? And if he's playing a corner of spot, his numbers this year aren't that far off from Brian Giles, who this board was creaming themselves over getting this past offseason. Giles: .383/.385/.769 (9 million) Murton: .357/.426/.782 (near league minimum) :-k
