As a non Bears fan in a room full of hardcore Bears fans tonight, it was tough. I wasn't rooting either way (I was rooting for me to win mostly) loudly, but I was just amazed at how embarassing the Bears played tonight. The game was lost on the play of the defensive line and Rex. No pressure at all on Peyton, and they could not stop any interior runs AT ALL. Seriously, Tank, Ian, Boone, etc, were getting eaten up and allowed the line to get into Briggs and Urlacher to spring for consistently strong runs. Ogunleye was such a non factor tonight, in addition to Alex Brown, however, I bring up Ogunleye because he is somebody that HAS to go from this team. I don't know exactly what his cap hit is for 07, but is probably really high and for his mediocre production... they could do a lot better (ie. Anderson who certainly did not see enough of the field tonight and using it for Briggs and possibly Brown back on a cheap deal.) Hunter Hillenmeyer was terrible tonight. The safeties were awful. Urlacher and Briggs were factors only when the Colts decided to run the stupid stretch play which isn't going to work against this fast of a defense. Terrible tackling. And what more can you say about how bad Rex was tonight? I don't care if it is a slick field, slick ball, etc, he made some awful throws. He also could not hit guys in stride at all, throwing wide, behind guys, throwing the float ball and his handling of snaps all night was sickening. People in our group were enraged at his miserableness. As for media scrutiny in the upcoming days, after that pathetic performance and Des Clark saying the "Colts wanted it more" (per Laurence post game with ob and doug) must have been disheartening for Bears fans to hear. The Bears got outplayed much more than the score indicated. This easily could have been a 3-4 score game.
