Cuz bumping Ramirez down to 5th just seems really dumb. So if that assumption is correct, you can put Lee 2nd, 5th, or 6th right? With Lee's dp's, I'd hate to put him 2nd, but that would let Soto be 5th. Soriano Lee Ramirez Bradley Soto Fukudome Fontenot Theriot All things considered...that's a pretty darn good lineup. A far cry from the days where we'd have Neifi, Izturis, Pierre, Hairston, Macais and Cedeno in the same lineup .

I was just thinking of something similar to this...I'm really becoming of the opinion that there should be no such thing as "untouchable" and I don't think I'd have any concern at all about dealing a guy like Vitters in a deal for a guy like Peavey...or any similar kind of deal.

I believe Nate Spears is in the Cubs system because they value a guy who went .299/.394/.438/.832 at AA. They even sent Spears to the AFL. That line is pretty much why I brought it up...generally we foam at the mouth for a guy who hits almost .300 with an OBP of almost .400...that he hits left handed, is only 23, and is basically free...well, if he can produce like that (and was also very good in the Winter league)...and won the 2008 "Best Hustler" award.. :D ... what's not to like?

Exactly. The only reason I wouldn't be sad about giving up Dero would be that it's highly likely that last year was a career year. I like Dero a lot, but if it's going to land us Jake Peavy, I'll be okay with it. Even though I don't think Peavy will be as good outside of Petco, he's still one of the best pitchers in the game. ... Because the thread has similarities.... What if DeRosa going means that Baltimore is even more involved than we thought and We get Brian Roberts too. :D

I know there is likely some statistical reason for all this hate, and that its likely been discussed adnauseum in some other thread...but I missed it and I'm curious... Why all the hate for the guy who put up the best OBP and BA on the team last year, all while costing us only $428K? Considering our financial situation, is replacing him with a .312 OBP who ony hit 10 HRs and will cost $10,000,000.00 really a good idea? -
I started at 28408 in January of 2007, I'm now at 28343...so about 60 spots in 2 years...at this rate I'll never get them...I think the only legit chance is if there is some sort of major stadium reconstruction.

Agreed. I'd be up for doing it again, but I'll be out of town this weekend. Same here...the company was good...the game, not so much. I'm watching from my in-laws basement tonight...hoping the location change will change the result....maybe we could do it again for game 4 or 5?

Today, on the day the Cubs start the playoffs, 100 years after their last title, understanding I wouldn't see her for basically 2 days, I took my wife to lunch and picked up the tab. When the lady behind the counter said, that will be $19.08 I about crapped...that's got to be a good sign right? (the #, not me crapping)

yea, I'll be there. I'll probably get there around 5:15 or so. I'll be the bald (shaved) dude with the start of a playoff beard wearing just a plain Cubs shirt. I feel like I'm going on a blind date or something... Yeah...it is sort of a strange blind date...I plan on wearing my Soriano Jersey....I'm generally business cas as well but I think I'll be able to change...looking fwd to it.

Did I mention Bar Louie in the CWE yet? They have good beer specials. too bad the game isn't Tuesday; $1 burgers. I'm being more selfish than anything -- it's close to my office. :wink: Where is Bar Louie in the CWE? Is that the old MPO's? Does it have good sized TVs? I haven't been there since I was in school Pujols 5 is out in Westport right? I'd probably rather stick closer to downtown as I've got to work until fairly close to game time...but I could likely make the CWE... What would you guys prefer? Wherever is fine with me. I've never been to Bar Louie in the CWE, but from the pictures on the website it looks like it has plenty of TV's. Yes, it is the old MPO's. Lets do Bar Louie then...I should be able to get there by 5:30...First one there grab a table and be sure to wear cubs gear so I'll know who to meet up with...I'll do the same.
