  1. Seriously? I'm sorry...but Ramirez HAS to be playing...thats kinda ugly...its like we won the first 3 games and he's throwing out a get away lineup...
  2. If we could get a win AND an STL loss....that would be a good thing.
  3. I'd like to see Soto again today...The Dodgers have the two speedsters at the top of the lineup that Kendall has no chance of throwing out, Kendall's still a little tender anyway, and Soto had a good night with the bat last night...no reason to rush him back out there..save him for tomorro when he makes a triumphant return to Pittsburgh and goes 4-4.
  4. Its 6:10 local for a 7:10 start...and right now, I'd be suprised if the game started on time.
  5. Good thought...probably not though...they won't start the game unless they think they can finish it.... Best case scenario for the Cubs (worst case for STL) would have been this game starting...going 3-4 innings and THEN the monsoon hitting...then they would have burned a pitcher AND had to add another game to the schedule....as is, if it goes (and its still looking nasty and my office is high up and faces west and I don't see a break coming soon) they won't start till they have a big window....
  6. It is NASTY here right now...a freakin monsoon...but it doesn't look like the kind of stuff that will last for 6 hours (if it does I'll need a boat) and I'd have to think they'll go a LONG time before calling this one tonight.
  7. There could also be a stickied post or two containing the definitions of some of the more..."unique" sabermetric stats...which shows how they are figured and what they are supposed to help predict.
  8. If someone could post a link to the interview...assuming there is/will be one...it woudl be greatly appreciated.
  9. Fuld has great numbers against righties. Might prove to be a solid bat off the bench. I see no reason not to stock the bench with these guys to the fullest extent we can...
  10. Just what I predicted yesterday. :) I also predict that Cubs fans will greet Z with a standing "O" when he next takes the mound. beat me to it.
  11. I knew that was coming... I knew it should come, I wasn't positive it would....I'm very glad it is.... IF he's sufficiently contrite I expect a standing ovation next time he walks on the field.
  12. Am I the only one who's strangly optimistic about this pick up...Traschel hasn't given up more than 5 runs in a start since the 2nd week of the season...this is pitching in the AL East mind you...and hasn't given up more than 3 runs in a start since July 26... I like our chances tonight...we just need to score a couple...
  13. Two weeks ago I said we needed to tweak the rotation to make sure Z pitched against STL...now I think we need to throw all 3 of our left handers and bring up another lefty.... Z's had the opportunity to come up big several times over the last month and has completely pissed the bed. I've always been a big supporter...but calling out the fans after his recent string of performances is unacceptable. I still hope that he does well for the Cubs, but some of that shine has worn off...I'll have a harder time defending his antics from here on out....
  14. x2
  15. You know, I actually thought of that...a guy like Traschel could/would have really helped STL down the stretch...I don't think he's going to hurt us at all..may even help...but if he was sought after by STL and us having him keeps them from winning even one more game than they otherwise would have it could be another very solid move by Jim Boy.
  16. Me too...sort of...Kids day care is closed today...I told the wife that if I "Had to" I'd stay home today... Mizzou...you gonna go watch Illinois whoop up on the tiggers tomorrow?
  17. The difference between the two forums is that on Cards talk nobody doubted that he'd be a HOFer...it was just a question of which round he'd get in.
  18. Of the Cubs...sure....of the league...Not a chance.
  19. Cards LOSE! Cards LOSE! Cards LOSE!
  20. Runner on 3rd, no outs, 2-3-4 hitters up...and they DON"T SCORE.....who are these guys? The Cubs?
  21. I didnt want to quote myself but from chicagosports it says a MiLB player after the season. Did we make them promise not to play him against us the remaining 6 games this season..I'd hate to see one of our own guys kill us...
  22. In all seriousness...do they have any decent 3B in the minors? All the fans here seem to say no. There are many on Cards talk advocating pulling Spezio back from Drug rehab early....yes...the best baseball fans in the World....Stay Classy St. Louis.
  23. Their pitchers depend on that defense a LOT...I think this actually could hurt them quite a bit...also because the middle infield rotation was working well because of rest and matchups...if Ryan, Miles et al are playing every day, as opposed to just when matchups favor them, I think you'll see drop offs in their production. They may depend on that defense a lot, but how many chances is the replacement 3B actually going to get a game that they won't be able to make but that Rolen wouldn't have made? The difference between a great fielder and an average one isn't all that much. In the short term, it probably won't even show itself. I think it may...especially when coupled with forcing Miles, Ryan, and Eckstein to play everyday. Ryan KILLS lefties, but doesnt' hit right handers very well at all (.255/.300)...he used to sit those games...now he starts every day...Miles was getting a day or two off a week...now he's got to start every day... They dont' really have any solid system replacements....if this results in just a one game difference down the stretch that could be a lot in this race.
