  1. The fact that the Cubs were so outplayed by a bunch of no-names should tell us that player development in this franchise, for lack of a better word, sucks.
  2. I've never seen a bigger bunch of gutless wonders. They should all be ashamed of themselves. Lee, Ramirez and Soriano are all huge wastes of money. If this is all the effort they're going to put forward in the postseason, I'd rather trade away the high-priced losers, put in the entire AAA lineup, and lose 95 games again. At least they'd show more heart than these bums have.
  3. Can anyone give me the Cliffs Notes version of why there are always a few Cub games on WCIU every season? I can't imagine why Tribune would do this on purpose...it seems counter-intuitive, [expletive], and a money-losing proposition...in other words, it looks like something that MLB would mandate.
  4. Froemming is a fat piece of crap and I hope he gets what's coming to him. You'd think after all these years of carrying around the weight of his enormous gut and his enormous ego that he would have gone the way of John McSherry or Eric Gregg already.
  5. That was a real 'a-ha' moment for me as well, as soon as Froemming was mentioned as the crew chief.
  6. Actually Gammons was talking about how dangerous the Cubs could be in the playoffs. The pitching is doing very well, and the hitting is covering for the pitching's few mistakes. Unfortunately, Gammons is just a reporter, and doesn't get the same kind of face time that the play-by-play guys or analysts do. Whatever announcers the Cubs get, the numerous mentions of Game 6, Durham, the black cat, the goat, etc. are just going to be nauseating.
  7. Soriano is a #5 hitter, not a leadoff hitter. It really is as simple as that. How Lou doesn't see that is beyond me.
  8. I feel your frustration, but look at the Cards last year. Let's just get there and see what happens. Making the post season is great no matter what your record is. Have people not figured out yet that this is a .500 team and no matter how upset you get with them they are still going to be a .500 team? If by some stroke of luck being a .500 team is good enough to make the playoffs they will. Then they will probably lose in the first round in 4 games. No point in getting all worked up about it every night like this some awesome team that is way underachieving. The problem though isn't that people are expecting a .500 team to overachieve. It's that people expect this team to earn their $100 million+ salaries. And frankly, a .500 record ain't cutting the mustard when you have hundreds of millions committed to franchise players over the next four seasons or more.
  9. I feel your frustration, but look at the Cards last year. Let's just get there and see what happens. Making the post season is great no matter what your record is. Yeah, but do you really think the Cubs are going to do what the Cardinals did? It would be just like the Cubs to win exactly 83 games, make the playoffs, and then get swept in the first round.
  10. Not to worry. I'm sure the Astros will have an offensive explosion the next couple of games against Trachsel and Hill that'll make Lidge's presence unnecessary.
  11. Hawkins '04 = Dempster '07. IT'S GONNA HAPPEN. Maybe they'll run Dempster's lame carcass out of Chicago like they did that a-hole Hawkins. One can only hope.
  12. Dude, sac bunts are the bomb.
  13. I'm aghast that a team of supposedly major league baseball players is befuddled by the Astros, who are all of nineteen games under .500 coming into tonight. Quite honestly, I don't want the Cubs to make the playoffs. Just go on a nice 10-game losing streak and end this crap already, because they've proven they obviously don't want the division badly enough.
  14. Updated records for Cubs against three crap NL Central teams: 16-21 Milwaukee: 25-16 Go eff yourself Cubs. You all suck.
  15. NICE JOB OFFENSE!! YOU SUCK!!! JONES! THIS ONE'S ON YOU TOO!!!!
  16. I knew it. YOU SUCK DEMPSTER!!!!!!
  17. How do you walk a punch-and-judy hitter like Mark Loretta? how is that possible?
  18. Lidge had thrown 42 pitches. A player with good situational awareness would have worked the hell out of a 2-0 count, knowing Lidge was done.
  19. Does anyone want to swing their bats before they get two strikes?
  20. Is it just me, or does it seem like Soriano has an 0-2 count every single at-bat?
  21. I'm really glad Hendry waited until September to call up Soto.
  22. I wonder if the Cubs will be able to parlay stopping the Pirates in a bases loaded, one out situation into a big offensive inning. Probably not.
  23. Wow. That was a surprisingly clutch performance by Eyre.
  24. Nyjer Morgan is an absolute nobody. Therefore, I'm predicting a grand slam.
  25. The count was 1-2 and he walks the guy. Typical Worst.
