  1. It's all that hot weather wearing all the white boyz down.
  2. I'll take second sack. I've got a good OBP and am a bit of a slappy. You guys will want me up there with two strikes and runners on.
  3. And hopefully that's by not making a new attendance record every GD year.
  4. I just hope Kerry's yeast infection or menstrual cramps clear up in time for his next start.
  5. I would sooner spend my not-so-hard-earned dollars on one of those 15-year-old Tom Emanski videos than I would any baseball training product or camp that Dusty Baker has anything to do with
  6. I found the title of the thread ironic, considering that Baker's the one that should be thrown in front of a bus.
  7. Please tell me why we shouldn't have traded this bum Hill when we had the chance? He has been anything but impressive I absolutely despise both of these teams. I seriously cannot understand how a bunch of white trash clowns like the White Sox have a WS ring in the past 97 years and we don't. There's no [expletive] justice in baseball. None.
  8. If they give this skidmark an extension, I'm seriously giving up on the Cubs for the next couple of years.
  9. The fans are tired of losing. I would think if Jim Hendry has any pride, he'd be tired of it as well.
  10. That would be John McKay, head coach of the 1976 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  11. The Astros started last season 4-36 and turned things around. We can do it, too. Give or take a few. :D
  12. Every game the Cubs lose is one game closer to Dustbin getting fired, along with his atrocious coaching staff.
  13. Best brawl I ever saw was the Cubs-Mets melee at Wrigley in August of 84. I think Ron Darling beaned Keith Moreland, and it was ON.
  14. I'd like to see those of us on the board here have a buy/sell thread for the stuff in the garage sale. I wouldn't mind getting a brick, if someone's willing to pick one up for me, I'd pay cost plus postage plus a little honorarium for the trouble. Does anyone have a list of everything that'll be on sale? I wish I were in Chicago to be there.
  15. If you have the Sports Pack and not EI, are the games shown on the FSN affiliates blacked out?
  16. Wow. Neifi with an RBI single. The Cubs rule on Opening Day.
  17. I LOVE seeing these guys play small ball. Absolutely LOVE it.
  18. I like what I've seen so far from the Cubs' youth movement.
  19. You left out the part where he showed us what he really thought of us. You mean the part where he said the "restaurant" would actually be a luxury suite where regular ticket-holders would be prohibited from entering? McGuire is a complete ass. He knew damn well the only way he could sell this renovation to Cub fans and the City of Chicago was to present as much of a "fan-friendly" theme as possible. So in other words, he lied. Let's see, no more homerun balls onto Waveland or Sheffield, no knothole to see the game from Sheffield, Bleacher seats for $60, and a massive, garish luxury box in center field. What a freaking abomination. I suppose I can understand the desperation to make money though, what with the ridiculous contracts they gave guys like Perez, Hairston and Jones.
  20. I looked it up in the book Where's Harry? by Steve Stone, and it was 1987. My thinking was simply that a current President would have more important things to worry about, but then again it was just one day. Reagan once did play-by-play for Cub games on WHO radio in Des Moines. Although he was never at the games, he read the action aloud from a telegraph tape that came in from the adjoining room. The audience never caught onto the ruse, even when for one day they lost the telegraph from Chicago for about 5 minutes--Reagan simply ad libbed and said the batter had fouled off something like 12 pitches before finally registering an out. Kinda cool that he helped announce a game while the leader of the free world; that's why most people could always connect with him.
  21. The Brew Crew is bringing back the powder blue road unis this year for select games, it would be nice to see the Royals do likewise. I like the Cubs current set of uniforms, except they need to drop the alternates at home (Do the Yankees wear alternates at home???) and the stupid looking red bill on their caps for away games. I'd keep the gray uniform as-is; The block lettered CHICAGO looks sharp and is a bit more traditional than anything in script.
  22. Looking at heading down to Arizona March 23rd. I'd like to get into town before the 1:05 game with Seattle that day, but as chancy as airlines are I don't know if I should commit to buying beforehand. How available are tickets the day of the game at HoHoKam? How available are tickets for other teams in the Mesa area?
