  2. Yes, Greg didn't pitch well last night. Do you imply that just because Greg pitched poorly that it's okay for Dusty to not put the team in position to win later in the game? Had he not used Neifi in that situation, I think the opinion on here is that there were better/more reliable options on the bench to help the Cubs overcome Greg's poor pitching performance and come away with a win or at the minimum, a chance to go into extras. Yes of course im implying that. jeez. Oh and yes its up to the manager to make up or overcome a poor performance of the pitcher by making the most perfect move or moves. I believer other factors should not be discounted in deteriming a loss. Even if it could be proven 100% that dusty's moved sucked in the ninth doesnt mean that you couldnt blame greg for the loss either. I don't disagree that Maddux played a large role in yesterday's loss...he gave up 5 runs and that was clearly one run too many and definately two too many. But, in light of that, one cannot take away runs already given up. All that can be done is to then try and outscore the opponent. And, I don't believe Dusty gave the Cubs that opportunity late in the game last night.

  4. I know there were 4 pages of pre-game discussion in today's thread. My point is that I don't think there'll be 4 pages of pre-game discussion between now and later this morning (ie - when Roast is up before school time). If it's not up then, I say go ahead and start it. I don't think the 6 hours or so before he'd get it up is going to prevent some people from being able to discuss tomorrow evening's game. But, whatever...do what you want.
  5. Maybe he will get the thread going in the AM when he gets up. I say wait til then and if he doesn't have it going by 8ish, bump him back. It's very possible he was in bed before the game was even over...and the rules say not to start the new thread til the game is over. So, he may have had no chance. It's not his fault. The rules also say to get it up the night before the next game. Roast will understand if we need to get it up. It would be a sport start, so Roast gets the next one, win or lose. Correct. Whether or not the Cubs win tomorrow, Roast gets the next start. I understand that (and don't know why I'm really concerned as I am not starting any threads for games) but, at this point, I don't really see a *lot* of pre-game discussions occuring. I think, if he can get it up before he's off to school, that from that time until game time there, is plenty of time for pre-game discussions. But, I have no influence whatsoever in this matter so I'm sure Raisin will start the thread since he wants to.

  7. Why not give him til tomorrow sometime? It's a late game tomorrow...he probably is sleeping. It's not fair to take his start away because he had to go to bed because of school. It would be different if it was a day game, but it's not. Just my opinion. Plus, he's been looking forward to this for quite some time...I say don't take it away from him til necessary.
  8. This is exactly how I feel. I've never really gone against Dusty but tonight was just stupid. Plain stupid...Neifi in the 9th??? :x

  10. Why cant they send the doctor out to Arizona instead of the other way around....would have made millions of people feel so much better I think in one place I read that the doctor had other people to see in Chicago, so it made more sense to send Wood to him. The doctor did have other patients.
  11. I heard that. I hope you two have a good time. :D
  12. [-X for leaving me off that list! But I don't want to be a game-thread starter so you're a little off the hook. :)
  13. Hey Cpatt - Thanks for asking...I've wondered for a long time. KatJ - Thanks for the answer!

  16. Hey...fairly new to this board but really appreciate it. I post under the same moniker at cubs.com - sandberg23. I am really getting sick of that board and frequent this board much more often. Props to all those who keep it up and running smoothly. Look forward to reading and posting more as the days go on.
