  1. for the lazy....... Neifi Index. Named for infielder Neifi Pérez, this statistic measures a player's ability to contribute to his team's success by not playing. Introduced as an award that "we, the great whiffing, grounder-booting, sedentary lifestyle-leading masses, wouldn't just have a chance of winning if we were allowed to play. We'd be a lock", the Neifi Index is the difference between a player's team's winning percentage when he does not play and when he does play. It is called the Neifi Index because when Kaufman first computed it, the San Francisco Giants winning percentage when Pérez did not play was .929, but was only .542 when he did play, thus giving him a Neifi Index of .387.
  2. are you crazy!!! actually i was just about to do that...i think kendall is ok...i mean not great, but he will do.....
  3. i guess its " a quality start" if it keeps the cubs in the game...... The quality start statistic is so stupid. 3 ER in 6 IP = 4.50 ERA Is that really what anyone would consider "quality" pitching?
  4. more matt murton, i agree....he did good last year when he played every day.....for me the jury is still out on J JOnes....i mean, i never really liked him as a defender, you never know where he will throw the ball, and his misjudging flyballs is frustrating, but i dont feel the holes are that big really....maybe its the 30+ years of being a cub fan, but i think things are ok...who can they get anyway to fill the holes??
  5. bill brasky once tore both his labrums then pitched a perfect game well it's not fair since he did it while kicking the ball from the mound. with his left foot. and the whole time, he was slow cooking spare ribs.....
  6. anyone hear woody on sportscentral last night?? wondering what he said....how it was going....
  7. anyone know?? if i dont hear anything soon, i will have to erase his name from my memory......
  8. i missed it, i was golfing.....did anyone catch it?? if so what did he say??? i hear he pitched pretty well today in mesa.....
  9. of that guy rushing the mound??? or is there no chance??? thanks----
  10. just heard on the score......barrett is gone.....per steve stone and mike north.....to the padres....
  11. WTF??? is this a rumor thats floating around?? Zambrano changing colors? Pitcher jests about red shinguards from 'my next catcher' By Paul Sullivan Tribune staff reporter June 14, 2007, 10:44 PM CDT Mark Buehrle still gets heat for wearing a St. Louis Cardinals cap at a World Series game last October, but Carlos Zambrano one-upped Buehrle before Thursday's Cubs game. Zambrano motioned to reporters standing around the clubhouse and pointed to a box that contained a pair of red shinguards. "It's a gift from my next catcher, Yadier," Zambrano said. Zambrano was referring to St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina, although he didn't specify whether he was going to St. Louis or Molina was coming to the Cubs. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070614cubsbits,1,2574558.story?coll=chi-sportstop-hed&ctrack=1&cset=true
  12. yeah....i hope to see him contribute in a positive way in a cubs uni soon....if only to shut up the kerry wood haters.......he seems like a good guy and it would be nice to see him play again.....
  13. did he give any indication on whats wrong with him, or a time frame for a return, or what he is doing now, as far as rehab???
  14. on WGN radio??? i missed it.....wondering what he said.....
  15. keep your head down.....
  16. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v377/rxdude94/more_cowbell.jpg MORE COWBELL
  17. well that would not hurt either.... i will start a new thread with that....
  18. if i had a set, i would not be watching the cubs every night.....
  19. that made me laugh out loud.... thanks man.....i needed that.....
  20. just like the Angels have the rally monkey, the cubs need the rally cubbie... so when the angels need a rally, they show the monkey on the jumbo-tron and well you know the rest. but the cubs need to take it a little further....lets say a cub does something stupid, baserunning mistake, blows a lead....whatever....if he does something dumb, he gets a jar of honey poured over his head and has to spend 10 minutes in the cage with the rally cubbie, which would be a real big bear....maybe it will help....what do you think.....(im really just joking)
  21. so far the cubs have made 2 base running mistakes....barrett getting picked off 2nd and darosa getting thrown out at 3rd on a grounder to the SS.... i know the bullpen has been less than stellar, but i feel that the fundamental mistakes are more costly or at least as costly to the cubs than the implosion of the bullpen....i mean if you cant win the 1 run games, in addition to looking at the bullpen for blame, dont you have to look at the base running?? and i know there is plenty of blame to go around.......discuss
  22. yeah...i was at the game on the 17th and he looked pretty good....and dempster is not terrible, i mean he has only blown 2 chances.....hes no Latroy Hawkins......at least not yet....and the dumpster looked good yesterday...1-2-3 in the 9th..... Agreed 100%. He's looking good as a starter this year, so he should stay in the rotation unless he starts to struggle.
  23. the ironic thing is that North was all...."show me some respect" then he has the stones to all Ozzie "Junior" after ozzie hangs up....talk about respect...i mean you get what you give, at least ozzie was saying what he was saying the whole time, north was a big tough guy.....after ozzie was gone....im not saying, im just saying ;)
