  1. Freddie Bynum bunts and hits home runs. What can't this man do?
  2. Wow, look at that crowd. The Cubs play some of the worst ball imaginable and they are rewarded with a packed house at home. I know it's a nice day and all, but damn.
  3. Dare I say it, nice play Neifi. Bad Eyre, that should have been two.
  4. I can't wait for the 6+ stretch of games with Hank Blanco.
  5. Chicago Cub Speed Killz™ Stolen Base watch: ================================ Corey Patterson...15 Juan Pierre...14 Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.
  6. It's always a hit when an outfielder loses the ball in the sun like that. Especially if it doesn't hit his glove. Except the ball did seem to hit his glove. Errors are so friggin' arbitrary that they are almost meaningless. No it missed his glove. It was scored correctly. Except it could have easily been called an error. There are no hard and fast rules as to what is a hit and what is an error. It's purely judgement. It's a moot point anyway, as Z allowed the basehit to Betemit. But I hope they go back and change the call. Zambrano doesn't deserve the earned run.

  8. Hah. The Cubs official scorer sucks just as bad as the team.
  9. Let's see how many baserunners Zambrano allows before Dusty gets the bullpen started.
  10. I can't believe what I just saw! See ya Matt. You'll be missed.
  11. It's 4 o'clock somewhere. It's 4:30 in Newfoundland. Drink up!
  12. http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7641.jpg "Hi, my name is Freddie Bynum and I am a major league baseball player…and I didn’t even have to resort to blackmail." http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/5702.jpg "Pssst. When the time comes, I have some photographs you can borrow." http://espn.go.com/i/mlb/profiles/players/65x90/7670.jpg "Hey! What about me?"
  13. The dream of Z getting "that-which-shall-not-be-named"" and the Cubs still losing 1-0 is one inning closer to reality.
  14. LOL...Bynum. Again, why is this guy on a major league roster? Oh yeah, it's the Cubs.
  15. Don't get discouraged guys. Remember, Houston Astros.
  16. 37 pitches for Zambrano. It will take the Cubs at least 3 innings to see that many.
  17. I don't see how Womack can possibly be any worse than Neifi/Hairston. Do I like the fact that we're at the point where we're about to call up Tony freakin Womack? No, of course not. But given the circumstances, I don't mind giving him a shot. I'm not saying he'd be any worse. My fear is that he will be better. Let's just say he hits somewhere around his career numbers of .273/.316/.356. Now we all know those numbers are pretty meager. But the Cubs will look at that .273 batting average and think they've found themselves a player. There'd be a real possibility of the Cubs going into next year thinking they've "solved" second base. Even if he is better than Neifi/Hairston, Womack doesn't help them that much in the short run and can only hurt them in the long run.
  18. It sounds as if Baker has a lot of say in roster decisions. I am encouraged by this. It would certainly explain a lot. Since Hendry is seemingly here to stay, it gives me some hope that perhaps Hendry, outside of Dusty's sphere of influence, might be a little less clueless than he appears to be. It's something anyway.
  19. Once upon a time, people were saying the same thing when a particular SS was picked up off the scrap heap. "Our SS's already suck," they once said, " what's the harm in giving Neifi Perez a shot." The harm is that if Womack hits superficially well (along the lines of an empty .280 BA), the Cubs won't resist bringing him back, possibly to a multi-year deal and possibly as a starter. Hendry and the Cubs are stupid that way. Nothing good can come of Tony Womack.
