On the audio feed, I can overhear people in the press box talking about Kansas City and the Cubs' chances of getting the first pick in the draft. Some guy sarcastically yells out, "We can pay $15 million dollars for an unproven 18 year old!" Tsk, tsk...the cynicism.

If the Cubs lose today, they will have the worst record in the National League. If the D-Rays win their game, the Cubs will have the second worst record in baseball behind KC. And with Zambrano possibly done for the year, I think they have a chance of catching the Royals. While I want the team (especially the young players) to do well, after what we've had to put up with all year, they deserve the humiliation of having the worst record in baseball

Yeah, but I can't recall a manager who consistently provides so much material. Morrissey pretty much got it right on at least this account... Every day, he is asked questions about his future, and every day he answers them. His responses are all over the board. More pickings for his critics. What used to be considered quaint about Baker—his willingness to talk on a number of different topics—now is considered the ramblings of a befuddled manager. -
