  1. Let's not get carried away. When I was growing up (80s), we hated the Mets just as much, if not more so, as the Cardinals. I still don't like them.
  2. ...and the crowd goes silent. Carpenter is getting shellacked.
  3. "Use statistics to embellish the point, don't use statistics to be the point."
  4. Hendry must be quite the salesman, first Neifi, now this... http://www.latimes.com/sports/baseball/mlb/dodgers/la-sp-freenotes31mar31,1,5390399.story?coll=la-headlines-sports-mlb-dodger
  5. I'm not sure whether to laugh at him or feel sorry for him. He must rue the day he first came into contact with Scott Boras. Wasn't Boras the second agent that led him astray? yes, ithe real culprit was a guy who's initials are T.T., i believe. I can't think of his name. Tony Tanzer? Something like that. Regardless, Harrington could've ignored him and just taken the money that first year. Lots of blame to go around on that one. Kind of a sad story. You are correct, Tommy Tanzer was his first agent.
  6. It could be a bench clearing brawl. A bomb threat maybe?
  7. They must have scored off Guzman.
  8. In my imagination, Blanco is out there on second base right now distracting the pitcher with his big leads.
  9. Nice of Gameday to give us the pitch locations on Prior's strikeout of Finley.
  10. Cook came into this game with 4-0 record and 2.11 ERA this spring. Not bad. I don't like how it takes so long for Gameday to belch out the results when Prior is on the mound. The Cubs are losing the time of possession battle.
  11. Gameday is spitting out results left and right. I think they are in the 5th inning already.
  12. I'm not sure whether to laugh at him or feel sorry for him. He must rue the day he first came into contact with Scott Boras.
  13. Dear Toupeeonfire; You may have noticed, but Stocksdale(sp?) is now with Baltimore, along with many ex-cub prospects) and Wilkens is now in charge of the draft. Signed Jim Hey Jim, nice to hear from you! Are you saying that Hendry has no input on the draft? Considering his friendship with former Notre Dame baseball coach, Paul Mainieri, draft picks like Grant Johnson and Jeff Samardzija have Hendry's name written all over them. While Wilken may now be running the draft with some degree of autonomy, when it comes to the top picks, where money and signability is often as much a factor as talent, Hendry has the final say.
  14. Dear Jim Hendry, From now on, no more drafting of pitchers with a history arm problems in the higher rounds. That means no more Bobby Brownlies and no more Grant Johnsons in the first couple of rounds. Oh, and please draft better.
  15. 8th walk of the spring for Izturis. Cedeno has 10 walks to tie for the team lead. Pagan has 7 walks in 29 plate appearances. Crazy numbers.
  16. Pagan flies out to the warning track. It was close.
  17. Apparently a good catch by Theriot in foul territory to retire Ryan Shealy.
  18. It's going into the 10th, tied up at ten apiece. Free baseball!
