  1. I want the Cubs to seem not interested in Girardi. If they truely are interested I'm sure Florida would want some compensation knowing that owner. Let him fire Joe and then show the interest.
  2. It's not just about Pie for me but the fact that the Cubs are playing for the worst record in baseball and Pierre is going to play every game. Why not try Jones or Pagan in CF? What if Pierre does leave....I think seeing how somebody else would do out there would help for next year. There's also a school of thought that would say that even if they know positively that Pierre will be re-signing with the Cubs, that it might be worthwhile to see how other plays can handle CF in case Pierre were to be injured. Too bad that won't be happening. Pierre is on his free agency drive. Hendry and Dusty don't want to interfere with that. As usual, they're both more loyal to individuals than they are to the team. They should be in charge of a beer league team if that's the case. I do admire Hendry for being a nice guy to the players but there's a point where you have to take care of business.
  3. It's tough when dinkers like that fall. Of course the leadoff walk didn't help things.

  5. "We want Murton to get more time so calling up Pie would take away from that. Pierre is going to play every day." The basic jist of what he said. Are they just kissing Pierre's butt so they can resign him because I have no idea why he HAS to play everyday.
  6. Is it a cramp or a blister? Oh man, what a bummer he has to come out.
  7. Dang, 1 out away from a chance to win his first game....darn you announcer guy!
  8. There're 0-2 when my dog scratches his head in front of the TV. Nice squeeze. Oh, come on now !! As worthless stats go, this one actually has some value !! btw.... you might want look into getting that mutt de-clawed, eh? I'll bet that stat is good for every team...the 16 pitch thing not my dog. And no one calls him a mutt....my mother called him a mutt once....just once.
  9. Werd. Len is obviously a proponent of clogging the bases, and that cannot be tolerated. Where's Merker when you need him?
  10. In that conference they have a shot.
  11. And can get you some pretty nice contracts if you do it often enough.
  12. There're 0-2 when my dog scratches his head in front of the TV. Nice squeeze.
  13. I think striking out Bonds might add a little confidence to young Mr. Guzman.
  14. Guz stinks, why do the Cubs even bother trotting him out there? :D
  15. When are you coming out with your book? He is a man child no doubt.
  16. just wasn't high enough-hit the wall on a line. Stupid line drive hitters! Schmidt balks at idea of playing with the Cubs!
  17. Murton should be benched after smoking that one.
  18. Goofy Jones screwing up a chance at a better draft pick.
  19. I wouldn't doubt it. Who wears more gear....Barry or Biggio?
  20. That's profound. Yogi was over for diner yesterday and he rubbed off on me. Eeeek !! I read that fast, and it sounded dirty. Sorry about that ! Wow Fred....I'm going to take a shower now, I feel so dirty.
  21. I've seen the calls that Bonds gets that should be called strikes, but instead he goes to first base !! Players like that intimidate umps imo.
  22. Alfonso made no attempt to get out of the way and should not have been awarded first. Fred, do you remember back in the day when Drysdale was going for the consecutive scoreless inning record he had the bases loaded, hit a batter, the ump called it a ball because the batter made no attempt to move, then Drysdale got him out to end the inning and keep the streak alive? By the way, if the batter is in the strike zone when hit, the ump is supposed to call a strike. Yes, I remember it well, but I don't believe there is a umpire in the game today that would make that call now !! I take it you've never seen the calls Clemens gets then?
