  1. Didn't somebody want to trade Prior for Young? Oops, wrong Young. I always thought he was suppose to be a pretty good clubhouse guy? At least that's what I remember.
  2. Yeah but about a million of them will say they were there!
  3. I think when you add up the lack of baserunning and the other intangables it does add up. But, you have to have talented players to begin with and Mr. Hendry so far has found that idea quite elusive.
  4. I still want him to work on his footwork at second this off season and give that a shot. If he could hold his own there I think he'd be a solid bat to have up the middle. He can't be any worse than Walker was there. Should Theriot be given a chance to earn a job there as well next year? What if both do well during ST? Having 2 guys that deserve to be on the big team at the minimum wage is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. A good manager would find enough AB's for both IMO.
  5. I bet they will pretty easily spin the dropin attendence to correlate to school starting. They would be, at most, partially correct. Maybe, unless previous years say differently.
  6. Maybe Hendry can be "kicked" upstairs?
  7. If I went to one of these games I'd be drinking twice as much as usual so maybe they are still making money? :D
  8. Similar idea, but I like getting a good RF and moving Jones to LF w/ Murton, getting that 2B that leads off, and playing Pie. I read that quickly and thought you wanted Murton to play 2nd! I don't see Wilson leaving the Yanks. Personally I don't think there are enough AB's for Murton when he is platooned. I like him in left and I would like to see Jones go to CF and get a 25/280/400 type guy in RF. Or, keep Jones in right and trade for Andruw Jones...or get Soriano and find a dent OBP guy for CF to lead off because I'm worried if the Cubs get Soriano he may leadoff which would ruin the whole idea of getting. I can just see it now...."Well he's lead off in the past and had success doing it".
  9. Well there is nothin wrong with letting Moore play so you know what you have, but if he decides he can go with Moore over Aram because of a month of play, thats crazy. If Hendry decides he could go with Moore than it better be a complete youth movement. That means trading away Lee, Barrett, and Jones, and collecting draft compensation for Pierre. Zambrano is the wild card. He is still young enough to be a part of a youth movement, but if someone wildly overpays... I'm pretty sure Hendry won't decide on not re-signing Aramis because of Moore's play in September. Moore was called up because he deserves it and because he's close to the big leagues. He's headed to the AFL next month, and I would be shocked if he's not at AAA next year (and I expect Aramis to be re-signed). If Ramirez does come back raisin I fully expect him to be overpayed and Hendry's (along with Pierre) big free agent signee's. I think Hendry will go after Soriano after he loses Ramirez but he won't get both IMO. If he does I will be impressed. Moore is lefthanded correct? Why not let him platoon with Theriot at second? If either one catches fire go with him. I think these guys will make for a decent and cheap bench too allowing Hendry to go after some high priced guys to put in the starting 8 and at starting pitcher.
  10. He started off ok. He certainly went downhill late. Dante always does that. I used to be a big time Viking fan for many years and I never saw why everyone thought he was so good. If you give any QB the weapons he had in Minny they would have been studs too. McNabb has Owens for 1 year and he's in the Super Bowl. As I've always thought...he is a poor reader of defenses.
  11. --Joe Paterno If he, or anyone for that matter, believes that Penn State has half the history of Notre Dame then he really is completely senile. another golden domer crawls out of the woodwork Well, the statement of half is stretching it, but Penn State certainly does not have the overall history of ND. Overall Record ND-811-266-42 (75.3 win percent (excluding ties)) Penn State-771-339-42 (69.4 win percent) Overall Titles ND-11 Penn State-2 Titles Since Paterno took over ND-4 Penn State-2 When comparing overall history, Penn State has been a very good football team-not in the class of ND though-Penn State has the 3rd best overall winning percentage in the Big 10. Now-does that give ND an advantage on Saturday? Of course not-but there are significant differences in their overall histories. Penn State got robbed in at least two years IMO too, 69 and 94. In 69 they had Franco Harris AND Lydell Mitchell....wow.
  12. I still want him to work on his footwork at second this off season and give that a shot. If he could hold his own there I think he'd be a solid bat to have up the middle. He can't be any worse than Walker was there.
  13. I thought the thread was going to ask the Cubs if they can get to warp speed yet. Hmmmm.....Jim Hendry as Scotty, naw, Scotty actually could fix a problem.
  14. All right Iowa fans, I'm getting pumped up to face your Big Ten country boy team and we are ready to crush you in the Dome! Man, that was hard to write. Maybe Ferentz will go back home to UConn and coach them next year. A little fact that all Iowa fans know. Iowa was 1-10, 3-9, and then 7-5 in Ferentz's first 3 years....maybe there is hope.
  15. Great pictures thanks....you always remember your first.
  16. I think it might effect any good manager that has options.
  17. Unless he was a Cub. Hendry would hang on to him like a shiney nickel.
  18. Rest Carlos and get some Z's. Hopefully the Cubs haven't ruined him yet and this is a blessing in diguise. Back injuries do bother me though and this may be a chronic thing for Z for the rest of his career especially if he continues to keep his weight up.
  19. I like the fact that the Cubs had him in AAA to start and let him build up his confidence. IMO if he got bombed early and often at the MLB level his confidence would have been shot.
  20. I still prefer the Perez and Rusch signings by Hendry but that's me.
  21. I think if he continues to challenge himself and adapt as a hitter he'll do well. If he is stubburn and doesn't make adjustments he'll have a very tough time at the MLB level.
  22. Granted, I wanted to keep Williams in the off season but I am curious on what kind of a haul he would have brought in if Hendry traded him then.
  23. Are you surprised? These are the great minds that run our Universities and if this bugs you you should see the way they waste your tuition. I'm for anything that takes the game out of the refs hands as they're confused enough as it is.
  24. It's not just a dome it's thee Dome.
  25. Didn't Stone want the Cubs to get Izturis?
