  1. Somehow I knew you would, and I'm cool with that. But we have to face the facts: if Aramis bolts (which I now think he is apt to do), there has got be a 3B solution better than Scott Moore. Maybe Lowell isn't perfect, but with 1 year on hid deal, it' snot onerous. Maybe Hank Blalock needs a change of scenery. But we should discuss 3b in the context of Aramis not being here. As for Tejada, I'd trade just about anybody not named Lee, Zambrano, Hill, Pie, Veal, Pawelek to get him. Mike Lowell is worse than just not perfect. If Aramis leaves, the worst thing the team could do would be to go out and trade for a bunch of 30-somethings. I agree. I would by far rather have Moore play 3rd and go young and talented. I'd trade Jones for some really good young guy(s) and Lee and/or Barrett if the right players were involved. I like the fact that when Florida did this they knew what young players they wanted and went after them instead of waiting for teams to come to them.
  2. Plus the obligation to pitch him if he's healthy. Miller has thrown better than I expected these past couple of outings and I think if he pitches like this one more time some team like the Cards will give him a couple year deal.
  3. It would certainly help with the Cubs inability to score! LOL! Post of the day... A dandy indeed!
  4. The above quote makes it clear that Pierre views this as the payday he's been working for all his life, most likely the biggest payday he'll ever see, so we can forget about any significant discount for the Cubs. No doubt about it, it's his last chance for big bucks and if I were him I'd go after a 4 year deal. I just hope Hendry doesn't bite.
  5. I would be ok with it if Lee is at 1st, Ramirez is at 3rd, ARod is at SS and Soriano is at 2nd! I guess I could tolerate that situation. I'm rooting for a quick Yankee playoff exit with ARod going 2-20 and a smart Hendry picking up the pieces. I would by far rather have ARod over Manny. Plus, if the Cubs say to ARod he could go back to SS, I bet he'd go to Chicago. Now you have to do your part and say you've been a Yankee fan since you were a kid and call all the Yankee talk shows and tell them how ARod chokes and you want him gone. Even if the Yankees do well in the playoffs but ARod stinks up the joint, he will be ridiculed by the New York media for not helping the team succeed. I don't think it really matters how the team does, ARod needs to hit well in the playoffs. Obviously it's not realistic because I don't see ARod doing this but I would love it if ARod tore it up in the playoffs, but the rest of the team did horrible and the Yankees were bounced early and ARod went on a huge rant to the media and ended it by demanding a trade. That would be awesome. I was listening to Dick Vitale on Mike and Mike and he had dinner with ARod soon after these comments came out. He (Vitale) said that ARod loves the clubhouse and Jeter/Giambi and thinks it's the best clubhouse he has ever been in. Personally I think it's just the NY press blowing things out of proportion like they always do and trying to fan the flames that are felt by many Yankee fans. I'd love to see him playing SS for the Cubs though and as Goony has said before, if the Cubs could ever wiggle a way to pay 50 cents on the dollar for ARod that would be a major move for the Cubs.
  6. Nice one Hoops. I rather have Tejada and Ramirez though depending on what Hendry would have to give up of course.
  7. I like Kirk too, he knows his stuff.
  8. I think the Cubs ought to get some information from the Vikings on how to do a team cruise instead of dressing up.
  9. I always get a kick out of Walton when he says a player should play with pain. He must have missed half his career due to injury.
  10. I want to know what ESPN's fansination with ex ND players/coaches is. Theisman, Holtz, Davies, and Golic are ones I can think of off the top of my head. Golic is the only one that even makes sense when he talks.

  12. But is Murton fast enough to hit at the top of the order...I don't think so! :D I'm not that thrilled with Loretta unless the Cubs can get him cheap. There has to be something about the guy since he seems to be on a different team every year.
  13. First off.....I hope this isn't a serious health thing for any of the players or coaches. I just hope this isn't some smokescreen excuse for the Cubs to use.
  14. So if a guy hits 289.499 he should round that off to 290? Kidding. I can see what Dusty is saying. They get some good stats and they can get more dough and it makes them more attractive to other teams so the Cubs can move them. Dusty is my Yoda.
  15. I would be ok with it if Lee is at 1st, Ramirez is at 3rd, ARod is at SS and Soriano is at 2nd!
  16. Is he the best manager you ever played for because he plays you everyday and lets you bat first no matter how bad you are at getting on base? One manager gets you to a World Series. Another one gets you to last place. The guy who gets you to last place is the best manager you ever played for? :drunken: I think it's all getting much more clear why people like to play for Dusty Baker. It's all about "veteran" playing time. Amazing isn't it? I never want to see Pierre become a manger then, well for the Cubs, he can manage the Cards. Maybe Pierre can sign with whatever team that hires Baker. 2 gone, a few more to go.
  17. If Texas runs the table that will boost OSU's strength of schedule and the computer will like that. SOS is not used anymore in the BCS formula. http://cbs.sportsline.com/collegefootball/story/7499505 Aren't the SOS's part of the computers rankings?
  18. Simply amazing...Why does it seem the orgnazations with the worst fan support win? I don't know, it is very frustrating. The Marlins, Braves, Twins and possibly the A's win and the fans seem apathetic year after year.
  19. If Texas runs the table that will boost OSU's strength of schedule and the computer will like that.
  20. These people can't complain if this team is contracted. While Garland is scattering 12 runs against the Indians these fans decide to not go and support their team. I can't wait to see them pump it up to 25K when they're in the playoffs.
  21. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/deluca/72254,CST-SPT-deluca26.article[ /url] And Hendry, not to be bested by the Sox yet again, signs Pierre to a 4 year 42 Million dollar deal.
  22. Well they're real and they're spectacular.
  23. That's what worries me is that this and Pierre would be Hendry's big "free agent" signings.
  24. What would that put the payroll at? I don't know what the payroll would be, but stories I have read hint that the Red Sox might have to eat half of Manny's salary for the next 2 years in order to trade him. So I would assume the more the Sox pay out the better the players they would receive? I think a team that goes after him will an AL team because he is terrible in the OF and going to worse as he ages, does anyone know how Manny feels about DH'ing?
  25. That says it all. Was Hendry so loyal to Maddux that he just gave him away? Were there any truth to reports that the Dodgers were willing to give us Matt Kemp? I doubt it and I really hope that wasn't true.
